Default Mongoose Canaan Elite - What do you think?

Does anyone know anything about this bike? I haven't heard too much about it, but from what I hear it's all good. I took a look at it not too long ago and everything checks out. Components are good and its at about 28lbs.

I have yet to demo it, so I am not too sure if there is any major pedal bob or not.

Again, if anyone has anything to say about this bike, then please speak up. The bike goes for $1500.

Seems like a decent component spec for that price. I normally think of Mongoose as a Wal Mart bike but I guess they have some better ones too.

Great bike for the price. The purchase power of Pacific allows them to spec some good components at a reasonable price. The Freedrive system works well at controlling bob and the Canaan has rear lockout. If you're worried about riding a "Wall-Mart" bike, Eric Carter rides one also. I test rode a bunch of bikes last year and ended up buying a Teocali Super (Freedrive also). 5000+ miles and still going strong.

How about a picture?

Check the marketplace, I think CJWally or someone else has one that they're selling.

Havent ridden one myself but have heard nothing but great reviews on the bike. More of a pure cross country bike in my opinion. Bike has a longer tt and is a bit stretched out, but if youre not doing any real aggressive riding(downhill, jumps, freeriding) it would be perfect. Plus at performance youll get a killer deal on it.(way under msrp)

I'm more of a AM rider, but I really dig the weight of an xc.

would it be stupid to attempt any jumps/down hill on this bike? del cerro for example.

That component spec seems really good for the price- that seems like a nice bike. It's good looking too IMO.

I bought the Mongoose Otero Super from JensonUSA Ontario... my decision was pretty much made when i looked at the various price points and this is my first full suspension bike. I am very happy with the bike... I can't blame anything on the bike yet as i continue to improve my skills & endurance.

im gonna say 'yes'. it is a four inch travel bike right? probably not a good idea to jump on it...if you do, i would keep it to a minimum.
