is flying fo sho. With jumping you wouldn't want your feet slipping off of flat pedals.

Would you used them going down trails like this?

what?? i can get out faster on powergrips than clipless. (had many clipless friends tell me that after watching). i do very steep/technical riding, always in my powergrips. whistler, shore, 30 foot road gaps, 14 foot verticle drops. i can stop right in the middle of 12 inch skinnies 8 feet off the ground (lets see clipless folks do that) or in the middle of a steep/tight switchback. i would never ride in anything else. of yea, i converted a guy who ran platforms his whole life and anohter guy that ran clipless his whole life! go powergrips!

as long as everyone rides in what makes them happy, that's cool. i get laughed out about once a month using powergrips, but who cares, i'm happy and for me they feel great, a perfect 1/2way point between clipless and flats. ride on all!!

Azonic X-tension platform pedals and 5.10 High Impact shoes with Stealth rubber soles for me

I gave clip-ins the good college try but found them to be very claustrophobic. I forgot that I was clipped in more times than I care to remember and then couldn't get free in time, leading to some embarrassing, stationary tumbles off the bike

I also find the rigid nature of clip-in shoes to be uncomfortable compared to non-SPD/freeride-style shoes but that's just me.

The only downside of my set-up is that I have incurred some pretty gnarly trauma from the pins on the platform pedals catching me on the calf or along the shin (I still have the scars to prove it!). Fortunately, these kinds of mishaps have been rare (so far ) and there won't be any going back to SPDs for me

I can't believe anyone would call you out over using those Powergrips. I assume that when they do, you let your riding speak for you?

I was drawn to cycling after watching those fine young men in Breaking Away Pedal their little Hearts out. So I'm a big fun of Duct Tape, I also use it to strap myself to the pedals!

This is from his earlier post: "i get laughed at about once a month using powergrips, but who cares."

That is what I was referring to.

What platforms do you reco? I have been using 50/50's for 2 years and love them. I havent tried many others but with my 510 shoes they stick like glue.
