whereabouts do you guys live?
we go riding in the barstow area around october when the season starts and my stepmom has a ttr 125 your daughter may be able to try? we can make it an STR desert weekend or something and invite all the dirtbike and atv riders

ttr is the same as the 125 for the most part.... bigger and definitely heavier, though
We live in Orange County. Barstow sounds good it's close enough. October also sounds good. We can put together a ride and include others that also want to try dirt riding. It's always fun for kids when they try stuff with others. Makes it more fun.

For now we will start checking out bikes and stuff.

Thanks,

-Elvia

Not, but considering how people mess themselves up on MTBs, now add a motor and a lot more speed.

Just like MTB it isn't if youre going to crash, it's when and how bad.

When you do take your daughter out, either go some place where there are no people, or:

Make sure to caution her about other riders. When a new rider starts out, they are so excited about or extremely focused about what they are doing, they typically fail to look around, causing them to have tunnel vision. They tend to miss riders or vehicles approaching from the side. This creates some of the most dangerous situations.

Even if you are riding in an area where no other riders are present, keep in mind that some may later come by.

I don't have the information handy, but I'd also strongly recommend you and her taking a rider safety/training course. Also, take your first few trips out with experienced friends to learn the do's and don'ts, so you know not to be the knucklehead doing doughnuts around the staging area. Just like mountain biking, there is an etiquette. Unfortunately, with the influx of cheap China-produced bikes, many people are easily getting into the sport without a clue and proper education (even if it's a mentorship of sorts).
