Default Poor Man's Gravity Dropper?

It's not the nicest looking..... not the lightest..... not the most user friendly-- it is cheap though!

WOW! Sette Ryde $29.98! http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/166...r-Seatpost.htm

Gravity Dropper- $239.95! http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp?ID=46701

Maverick Speedball- $220.00!

Cool. Bass boat (or is that office chair) technology trickles down to the MTB world

Wow! I've been saving up for a Gravity Dropper. I can't believe how much cheaper this is. It would be much more useful with the remote but for the difference in price it's hard to pass up.

I may just have to try this out.

They have one of these at adrenaline. Honestly, I'd go w/the gravity dropper or Maverick

Looks like the post made by Kind Shock (yeah that's their name!) And they seem pretty good quality, but not a Speedball!

I never thought that i would buy one of these but I ended up with the gravity dropper on my ASX from the doner bike.... I am really liking it now that I have riden it. Very cool when things get steep in either direction

Default You love that thing.

I need to get another GD its the only one to have the . The speed ball is lame. Well at least for me it is. I like a more positive locked in feel.

I would say it's worth a try, but you usually get what you pay for and at $30, I'm skeptical. I mean, it's hard to find a standard seatpost for that price sometimes.

Dino I looked at that thing it was really heavy and it felt a little cheap like it might now hold up well. You should go hold one and see what you think. I'm sure it works.

People give me crap about my GD but to me, it's the best invention for bikes since suspension. On the Sette post, for $30 it's worth a try. Damn heavy though.

I'm interested in trying one of the All Mountain Posts:

http://precisioncyclingcomponents.com/amp.aspx

I hear they are coming out with a 2 & 5" drop model in a month or so.

Do you know what the cost is of those posts? Their website only says they are backordered, I cannot find a price.

I think they are similar to the GD and Speedball prices.

If they cost the same- are there any features that make it much better than the others?

Does look good...

I don't know if it's significantly better than the others, but I am interested in a 5" drop, which the others don't offer. Also, the Speedball isn't offered in a size that will fit my frame.

There's a long thread about the post with pics on MTBR:

Only a Homer would put a GD on their bike.

GD's are grounds for expulsion from "The Nation."

Consider yourself warned.

Uhh, Marshall.....hmmm.... I thought about it.... I... Winston..........

Gravity droppers aren't for me. It's simply NOT worth risking expulsion from "The Nation."

Sorry to disappoint you Winston!

When I find the a-hole who logged into my account and posted all that stuff about Gravity Droppers, I'm going to make him ride without a seat for the rest of the month.
