I honestly do not understand this.

I assume this is somewhat of a joke, but I do find it surprising how many people hate/make fun of adjustable seatposts. Do you have a quick release seat collar or did you put a bolt on collar on there and never touch it again?

On the trail I see many people stop and lower their seats before going down Luge, Lynx, Meadows, Stairstep, etc. all the time.

All the moutain bike tips I read talk about how much better/safer it is to lower your seat for tricky descents.

Maybe you just don't like the idea that someone would want to be able to adjust something on their bike from their handlebars? However most of the "GD Haters" probably adjust their shifters and apply their brakes from their handlebars. (Unless they ride fixies, in which case I can totally understand why they wouldn't like it.)

Maybe it's just fun to make fun of something that everyone thinks it "cool" to make fun of. I dunno.

I use the 4" version GD on three of my bikes because of the on-the-fly lowering ability.

Sure I could easily do the same with a quick release on-the-fly except for getting the seat back to the original position. I'm really anal about my seat post height and it's nice to simply have the post return to the original position and lock in tight.

What I really like about the GD is its versatility. There are a few local trails where I only like to lower my seat for one or two sections; and with the GD I can lower and raise my seat numerous times on a single-track descent without missing a beat.

The only negative comments I've heard about them is some unreliability with the remote control unit on the handlebar. All of mine have the manual knob on the seat post which is very easy to operate.

It's also practical since it will fit just about any bike with the proper shim, unlike the Maverick which is too big for many of the bikes on the market.

I think the GD is definitely worth the investment.

Bringing a thread back from the dead - see, I searched!

Has anyone else had any experience with one of these posts? I'm tempted to get one for my All Mountain bike, for the cost I don't expect it to be light or perfect, but hey seems worth a shot.

its a bit heavy from what i've read on mtbr.. it also takes a while to break in and it is a suspension post as well so keep that in mind if you already are riding a fs bike.

There are few more value conscious consumers out there than me but must be afraid of what $30 bucks will bring.

For anyone thinking about the Sette--I've only seen them in 27.2 Not that I've seen them in real life (pix at Pricepoint). I guess that's exactly what some people need...
