They probably closed Whiting anyway.

We got a decent amount in Laguna around eleven. Enough to dampen my shirt. It tacked things up a little.
I could see it raining down South - I thought it was at Aliso. Great lightning!
GREAT riding weather, although the lightning seemed to clear the park out.

Great weather indeed. Thunder, Lightning, and rain in the Santa Anas. Not much but it came down off and on for a few hours today. We rode Whiting, up the STT to Old Camp, Luge, back to Whiting and Cactus. The dirt was nice and little chunkier from the rain but that won't last long.

Got a nice light drizzle cooling us at the clearing above Old Camp. Enough that I took this cool phantom shot of my bike.

Strange though, it was nice and cool up in the canyon but we got back down into Whiting it was just plain muggy.

Pho'd- cool picture!
Gene- when we get rain, are those water crossings from yesterdays ride still rideable? Just curious.
Thanks again!

I was riding from OC down to San Diego area this morning and we got caught in a downpour in Oceanside. So much rain that we had to take cover in the front of some surf shop. I was wondering how much of it might have made it to Aliso. Every time I ride there people always say "We really need some rain on these trails."
I kept thinking "When it rains it pours."

Yes Maria, the creek beds that we rode through, the really rocky ones, sections of them are full of water, but not deep. Very rideable, just lots more of it and longer sections that makes for fun times.

We did a rode ride this morning from Mission Viejo to Oceanside. We went through a torrential downpour while going through Camp Pendleton.

With the water and road grime kicked up from our rear tires I was a filthy mess at the end of the ride. I know I'm dark, but my face was literally black from all the nasty road sludge.

It was great!!

Mileage: 102.2 miles
Climbing: 5113 feet
Saddle Time: 6 hours 12 minutes 56 seconds
Riding in a paceline at 30mph through a torrential downpour with thunder booming and lightning striking in the distance: Priceless

This mornings ride was one of the most fun solo rides I've had in a while. The conditions at Daley were not that soupy but I stayed on the fire-roads just to be safe. Half way into the ride the skys opened up and I was laughing so much that dirt was getting in my mouth. Daley's fire roads are perfect for riding after the rains because they have the ability to absorb water without mushing up too bad. The singletrack on the other hand, I would give some time to heal.
Today's ride made me feel like a kid again, riding on the east coast.

We did a century riad ride today also, and we were treated to a great light show off of HB & NB. No rin though. Riding temps were freekin unbelieveable though. As we got a little closer to the I-15 it did warm up a little.

Default Rain in Big Bear

So I know we're a bit far away from everyone today...But We did get tons of rain here in Big Bear (actually Baldwin Lake).
It rained hard for an hour straight. Our roads are dirt here and they looked like rivers. Lighting Strikes due south of the cabin - kinda scary - (Maddie kinda freaked out). That's because one strike was about 100 yrds away - so close it made the hair on our arms stand up.It hailed 2x during the storm and then it was gone as fast as it blew in. You'd never know it rained aside from the washed out road to our cabin.
I wish it had rained like this down the Hill, we really need it.
