RFX is hard to beat if you ask me, although I would like to ride a buddies Nomad on a downhill some day to get a better comparison. I have 3 Turner bikes and my 6 Pack/RFX is definately my favorite. It gives up nothing in climbing over my 5 Spot other than weight.....in fact I think it climbs better over rocky technical stuff than the Spot does. I also like the higher bottom bracket of the RFX, bashing your pedals is no fun. Paired with the Push'd DHX the bike rips in chunk and rock gardens.

I'd go Turner if I were you. I'm not a Turner homer (maybe someday), but I think the performance is there, and the low maintenance zerk fittings that last a long long time would the tipping point for me.

I don't have any experience with the RFX, so I'm not going to talk about that one. Nomad vs. 6.6. I ended up going with the Nomad. The Intense 6.6 has a slightly steeper head angle and taller seat tube. I'm a more agressive rider, so those did not suit me. I know a few other people who bought 6.6s and have complained about the same things. Intense is coming out with a 6.6SS (Slope Style) that will have a slacker head angle, shorter seat tube, and lower bottom bracket. When that comes out, I'll get one of those.

I love my Nomad, though. It doesn't blow through the travel, but seems like it has bottomless travel, soaks up all the bumps, climbs like a goat, corners exceptionally. If I ever had to choose only one bike to ride for the rest of my life, this would be the one. Until the 6.6SS comes out, then THAT will the the ONE.

That girl could influence me to buy anything but damn it's too late, I pulled the trigger... Turner RFX! It's actually an 06 and a LBS had a blow out on their last 06 new frame with DHX Coil and I couldn't pass it up. I had a demo ride on another they had built up and I have to say it was a far better fit for me than the others. But that's me. I have friends that swear by their Nomad so I'm sure its great for some people as is the 6.6. I don't know, maybe it's the VPP... but it's just not for me.

So now I'm building it up with a 08 Talas, Juicy Carbons, Chris King/Mavic wheelset, XTR/XT... I think it's gonna be sweet! Can't wait to kill Noble on this rig.

I'll follow up with some comments on the rig after I've got a few rides in. Thanks for all your comments.

If you're still interested in my RFX , I don't have to hold it for the buyer any longer. Let me know if you want to demo it. I'm just an or so hour north of you.

doh! should have read your post above!

Both are cool bikes, the Turner will most likely be easier to maintain in the long run. Much more personable CS from DT and the rest of his crew - they are great peeps! Hell, the last time I was up there he didn't even have the name of his company plastered on his building - I like that!

If I were looking at the 2007/08 models I'd still lean towards the nomad based on the slacker (HA) geometry, 1.5 headtube and the fact that you can use DC if you choose. The DC may not be recommended on the new RFX's.

Climbing on my 37lb. Nomad is just OK for a porker of a bike like that. I didn't buy the nomad focusing on it's uphill climbing prowess, if that were the reason, I'm on the wrong bike. It gets me to the top of all climbs in relative comfort with it's tight cockpit, and that's all. It's set up to be a hoot on the downs.

I've had two years of happy ownership and currently when I look at other rides on the market, nothing out there really interests me - except for the Knolly Dellirium T, which is more bike then I need right now! I still haven't reached the Nomad's limits yet with my lack of skills.

Nomad or RFX, in the hands of any capable bike handler will be a great choice.

BTW, don't buy into the poseur/snobbery and forget to look at the 6Point, Tranny,Special Ed, and the ReignX while you're at it - they're worth a look!

Over and out,

D
nicely worded yo'

I like the RFX its been my current wet dream ride since the Six Pack went MIA... Turner is great because they make bikes for Clydes. I've seen the RFX in and XXL and it has extra frame supports which other bikes don't do.
