Just a heads up tomm. at 2pm on CBS 2 is the Jeep King of the Mountain Series.

"The first stop of the Jeep King of the Mountain series in Park City, Utah. Riders include Michael Prokop, Jill Kintner and Brian Lopes."

I don't really want to rain on anyone's parade, but I hope it's done better than it was last year. I was embarrassed for the riders.

The courses were short and uninspired and there were literally almost no spectators along course even though they made it look like lots of people were coming in the 'gates' to watch.

I would rather they just went and covered some national level races instead of their smalltime made for TV fiasco.

i kind of disagree jeff . i thought it was good slalom racing ! i guess i was one of those who was fooled , because it looked to me like a good turn out at all the races . also to see lopes kick prokop's ass , i know it was on the course lopes designed , but a win is a win.as far as t.v. fiasco , well it's mtb racing on t.v. ! come on man, thats better then half of the american idol crap out there.great t.v. !

I watched two of them and they had literally no more than a handful of spectators.

Of course Lopes, Boots, etc. can ride but the courses I saw looked like they started on the side of a small hill and quickly ended up on a grass flat with a few quickly made dirt jumps - not much more than a glorified BMX style sprint.

I would rather they brought those riders out to a real Fontana DH event, Sea Otter or just gone to Crankworx and covered that. Instead, we got a made for TV event that could have almost been done on a soundstage.

Certainly better than the majority of stuff on TV and to each their own, but I thought they had a real opportunity to do something with MTB and this was just not my cup of tea.

Well it was nice to see MTBing on TV but that was a LAME course, way too short.

the racing was OK, a couple good crashes. The one major complaint I have, is the commentator's, those guy's suck. They need to come up with a better course. Once someone gets the lead, the race is over, or the leader gets taken out.
I'm with Jeffj if they came out to fontucky, to video the pro's even if it only goes to cable tv. it would be better than nothing.

I had it on dvr so I got to fast forward through most of the BS

i was bummed thinking that they would show something more challenging (read: longer) than that course. I guess they think dual slalom is better tv viewing than a lone rider careening down a hill at break neck speed.

I miss OLN when they had the UCI downhill series

I'll probably go to SLO for the next race on Sep.23. Some nice trails in SLO.
