So I have been thinking about getting the 575 the last couple weeks. But I am still keeping my options open until the time comes to see which bike will be in my posession.
With a 2600 + or- dollar budget for a full suspension bike geared toward all mountain/XC. What other bikes beside the 575 would you consider? The Chumba Evo has my attention as well as the XCL. IronHorse MKIII Comp Giant Reign Anything else that you would look into? Although the 575 seems to be my best bet, I guess I'm looking for a little closure... ![]()

Hmmm... Maybe I can just start with the 575 and then if its not to my liking I can pick up a new frame.
A Turner would be nice, but out of my price range...

kona dawg deluxe or primo...upgrade the fork to a pike 454 u-turn air, new front wheel and/or hub and you are set.
sounds like u are very indecisive. all of these bikes you've listed (not just the chumbas) have very different characteristics. ride as many as you can and go from there eh.

I will still probably get the 575, But I want to see what other options I have. wow, I only weigh 135-140. does this mean the XCL would feel like a hardtail for someone as light as myself?

you can tell differences in geometry in parking lot tests as well as pedalling efficiency....before you drop serious coin on a rig, ride as many as you can and keep researching....i believe you are doing a good thing by asking so many questions. i think the xcl would definitely be a wiser choice over the evo if you go with the chumba...

![]() Personally I am rushing a little on this because my buddy is heading back to SD soon and he's my only means to getting to and from trails as my IS300 isn't up for it. I really want a rig that can take a beating but still be light. The 575 seems to be it, but recent posts in the MTBR forums about the rear triangle breaking made me very un-easy. So thats what made me reconsider all of the sudden about the 575's durability. Although looking at the EVO and XCL there are a few things I'd do to change the design as well. ![]() If anything were to break, I'd be broke for a while to replace anything on the fly. I already ordered the Crank Bros Mallets though, so the commitment has already been made. Thanks for the help! I will be riding every bike at Adrenaline before I purchase anything. Even an inner tube. Itll just be another excuse to ride a new bike.![]()

Just get the Turner now and save yourself the headache of trying to sell the 575 later on down the road.

If it is Chumba I would have to agree that the XCl sounds like it 's the bike for you... The XCL is a bit more geared toward being a, all around trail bike when compared to the EVO which seems to be more geared toward freeride...
That said, I would not worry about the rear triange of a 575 unless you are planning to drop 8 to 10 ft stuff. The 575 is a solid rig, and bottom line if iy breaks Yeti stands behind their stuff.. Just my opinion

Then you could take the extra cash you have and spec it out pretty nicely with the "take off" parts The Path sells. That bike would rip. Doesn't it make you wonder why George is moving on to Homerville ?But there are a lot of good bikes out there. ![]() |

I wouldn't worry about breaking the 575. Especially at your weight, unless you start doing some serious freeride stuff.
THose 575's can be built really light. That's great if you're gonna use the bike for the occassional race. But i you want something beefier (just a tad more weight) I'd take a look at the Chumba or Giant Reign or the Kona Dawg. I have a Reign and it's super plush and very efficient on smooth climbs. I know, I climbed Poles at El Moro on it before. But it's not a bike you'll want to stand and sprint on very much. The Dawg is solid too, it'll be easier to get under 30 lbs. compared to the Reign. Turners are nice. I mean low maintenance, stiff, and they just work. But the frames are pricey. Carl |

I really like the IronHorse MKIII Comp I was checking that out last week, I just sold a Giant Reign which is a great bike, & can be built up in a couple of ways. I don't think you'll go wrong with the Yeti either. Riding in the parking lot is very important. I've found that quite a few brands just don't fit me well. I really like an 18" frame & a lot of companys only offer 17" or 19". You need to find geometry esp the top tube length that you feel comfortable with. You can always tool around with the stem & seat, but it won't be the same as the perfect fit! I always pull up the geometry specs from the web sites & compare them side by side to get an idea about what is best for me. It's kinda like falling in love, you'll know the first time you ride her!
