IMHO, If it's a thousand dollar plus difference, that's one thing. If it's a couple hundred between the two, get the bike you really want, even if it means waiting a few weeks or skimping on a minor component or two then upgrading later. That couple hundred up front equals pennies per mile of riding over what hopefully will be a long relationship with the frame you choose.

I agree, but I also have little patience. But putting a lot of thought into it, even if Adrenaline might cost more. I still prefer to buy from them just by how they treat me as a future customer and make me feel like a friend. I feel a little cheap always asking for a price match, as Neil and the rest of the guys work very hard.

As far as waiting for a bike I really want, its a little impractical. Why? because my desires in a bike are more geared freeride/downhill although I have yet to do any. Its just what interests me most. Plus the bike would cost WAY more and being as light as I am, doing even a tiny climb would kick my a$$. And it wouldn't be any help to do XC with it. So you can kind of see why I started moving towards the Chumba over the 575. Paying a little extra for something a little bit beefier, but sadly a little heavier as well.

Although the constant picture in my head is of me flying off a 7ft drop on a ano. black rig.....

and then flying into a tree. haha
Everyone just may be in for a surprise. including myself

Talk to Neil about the XCL's ability as a do-it-all bike, and read the MBA review: I think you may be surprised at its versatility. In my extensive 4 minute parking lot test of the XCL (I did go over a few gnarly roots & curbs though!), I was impressed that it really was as responsive a pedaler as my 3.5" XC bike, but Neil will also tell you about how good it is in the nasty stuff or on the occasional (sometimes unintentional) huck.

Yes, I think I've read just about everything online that I could find on the Chumba. In english at least.. Although I havent taken the Chumba on a trail, The best I could get was pedaling in the Adrenaline parking lot for about an hour. Then Jason showed up just to let me get a feel of the stand over height on a size small XCL as Adrenaline only had a medium built up. Now thats customer service... He also rolled up the curb without lifting just to show me what it could do.

Neil seems to give a big thumbs up on the XCL saying "the frames pretty much bombproof" Which is comforting for some reason... Although I myself could not roll up the curb for some reason (shock too stiff? or maybe I'm too much of a newb)

If I am not mistaken Neil has a huge thumbs up in the form of an Orange XCl that he rides... He loves that bike and i believe that he will hit just about anything on it...

As far as the curb, you probably just need a little more speed and lean back a little bit... BAM... you are up the curb

Yes, and to my understanding the brakes on that XCL stop him on a dime.

Lean back? and then fly face first right? lol

You finish the BB ride?

You need to get that bike and experiment for yourself...

I would, but I'm a small. somehow no one has a size small XCL for me to test ride.

awsome I'll keep an eye out for it. I'm actually surprised your Yeti is only a large, seems like you would need a bigger frame at your Tree like height.

Lg is as big as the ASX comes.. Plus my initial reason for that bike is a Free Ride bike which will probably not see that much climbing so I do not need the size. and being smaller it is more fun to throw around on the hill

Don't forget to call Neil tomorrow

ohh okay, Yes Sir. I am hoping to pick it up on Friday after I make a visit to the Chumba headquarters.

Got it, your pretty tall so the Yeti in theory seemed a little small for you. But guess I am exaggerating a little.

haha oh yeah, almost forgot about calling Neil tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Thanks, your bike really looks great! Yeah I did, great photos.

Yeah I'm super stoked about the bike, I was excited about getting a Yeti before but not as much as the Chumba. I was day dreaming about the Chumba all day at work.. Now it comes down to the color. Black seems to be the best color, But ever since I saw the Raspberry metallic Evo from the SAT ride color decision has gotten in the way now. What do you think?

I'd post a picture of the raspberry one, but there aren't any good photos that show the true color in person.

I know the color.... Jason has one at his house...I like both colors as well, however if I were to chhave to choose a color i would go with the Pearl Orange

Now between the 2 finishes you are looking at I think that the Black might be annodized which would make me lean that way simply for the durability that anno provides. My RIP (the silver bike from Sat) is ANNO and I have not scratched that thing at all, while on it's first day out the Yeti gets the first scratch in the paint...

SO if the black is ANNO that is the way I would go.

Just my thoughts

I am 80% on the XCL. color wise it appears to be ano. black for its durability, I just wish the Talas fork came in black. But that Red looks so awsome, as well as the orange. it way too bright for me though, I was looking at it during the SAT ride and it strained my eyes.

definitely! would you be up for Aliso rock it? It almost destroyed my current bike the last time I tried it. So the Chumba should plow through it. keep in mind I've got the lungs of a 70 year old and get tired fast so we may need a few brakes. But downhill will be a breeze.

On a sidenote: that burrito on saturday was the best!
