26ers are so 20th century.

Just some of the basics:

29ers have a larger contact patch on the ground.
Larger volume tires lets you run lower pressure for better control.
Slacker contact angle of the tires lets you roll over obstacles.
Bottom Bracket is below your hubs acting somewhat like a keel on a sailboat, lowering your center of gravity.
Combined with a taller front end makes it extremely endo resistant.
They're like 70% cooler than bikes with smaller wheels.

Good post. This is the reason that Rivendell sells road bikes 54cm and below with 26inch wheels. Personally, I think Small MTB frames with 29 inch wheels are a little ridicoulos.

I thought it was the longer the travel, the smaller the penis.

Sorry, I wasn't out to offend anyone. I've never even ridden a 29'er, so in hindsight, I shouldn't have made a comment on this thread to begin with. Redact, redact!

26” wheels felt sketchy to me after I rode a 29” wheeled bike. On 26” wheeled bikes I would need a slacked HA long wheelbase and wide bars and tires to compensate for the smaller wheels. On the 29’ers I feel way more stable and “in the bike”. I guess the way someone 5’8” feels on a 26” wheeled bike
