I've been contemplating the same type of scenario. I recently got a cross bike, and I've been debating on getting a set of road wheels for it for more casual road rides (read: where I may want to go off curbs, ride embankments, ride wheelies, etc). However, I already have a dedicated road bike. Whatever...I'm whack.

Yes, It came with cyclocross tires, but I put road slicks on because I use it to commute to work. So much smoother and faster with slicks.
