east coast tick's are nasty. check yourself after your rides.
In this photo released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this 2007 photograph depicts the pathognomonic erythematous rash in the pattern of a ?bull?s-eye?, which manifested at the site of a tick bite on this Maryland woman?s posterior right upper arm, who'd subsequently contracted Lyme disease. President Bush's recently revealed treatment for Lyme disease makes him part of an unfortunate trend: The tick-borne infection is on the rise, with cases more than doubling in the last 15 years. |

This year I've got away with no bites, but it's been the only year in over 10 years. The little buggers love me for some reason.

I found one lodged in my shin after riding the San Juan trail in April.
The secret is early detection. There's very little chance of catching something if you can pull it out within 24 hours. Also remember that ticks don't jump so the most common way you can get one is by rubbing up against a plant. Ticks used to be my greatest fear. Now that I got one they aren't as high on my list anymore. |

Also remember that you don't always get the "bulls eye" if infected with Lyme Disease. But, if you do, see a doc!

I always seem to be pulling ticks off of me, luckily from my gloves or socks before they dig in. I guess I spend more time off trail in the bushes. My friends call me a "Tick Magnet" but I don't know what that means? They also made fun of me when the 40 Year Old Virgin came out, but the joke was on them because I was only 39!
