Default Light question, but not the usual one.

This isn't so much a 'what type of light should I buy', but a question of whether anyone has tried this...

I'm on my third set of Halogen lights and while they work, I wouldn't mind upgrading to HID. To date, the prices of some of the better brand kits have kept me away though.

While doing some online shopping for ATV stuff, I stumbled across these: http://trailtech.net/lights.html

They seem pretty good and the price isn't bad either.

I imagine they might be a tick heavier then dedicated cycle lights, but I could live with it. The double light system would be overkill - I'd probably kill some birds and blind small animals, so the single seems sufficient.

Wathca think?

Moto/ATV lights don't come with a battery in most cases. You need to hook into the 12V on-board battery system.

Helmet Light Kit with NiMH Battery and Charger
Supplement the light on your machine with helmet mounted HID. A 3700 mAh NiMH battery and smart charger are included. Single or dual kits available

Yep, and I actually have a family hookup for these types of batteries so I could technically just do with the light and ballast system.

I should probably poke around an ATV forum too, curious if these are any good.

Nice find. Please report back on what you find and if you buy one. That would be a bargain for HID.

I need to replace the bulb on my HID system every year and it is getting expensive.

A few comments here: http://forums.atvconnection.com/mess...ord1=trailtech

Most seem positive. I think I may order them, just to see. Maybe I'll get lucky and find them at a local shop so I can put my paws on them first.
