Default Pink Ellsworth Mountain Bike

Has anyone seen another maker building a bike similiar to this?

I saw this in the Evolve/Ellsworth model at the Path. I've been advised to buy something different than an Ellsworth. Like a Yeti.

I've also been advised to buy a frame and get it painted in this color. Like build a bike. I don't really want to do this because - it became a big mess for me.

Find the right bike for you, then worry about the color. It can always be painted.

Oh! If you notice a little closer. The reason I fell for the bike is because it has "for the cause" logo on it. Also that's why it's pink.

Do you know if any other bike makers are building "for the cause" type frames? With the pink color and the logo?

Saldnas,

Are you less confused now? Or more?

Thanks!

Buy the Yeti and just donate to the cause.

Thanks Foofighter!

My momma passed in January and when riding I always think of her. When I saw the bike it just seemed right.

I'll have to check it out one more time.

Default Pink for the cause...

Like the others, I think Ellsworth is the only co. doing that right now. I remember a couple of yrs. ago I think Surly did a special edition pink bike- I think only one bike which they auctioned off with proceeds going to "the cause". I kind of pay attention to these things, as I am a survivor myself. I have all the pink Chris King stuff on my single bike- hubs and headset. Great components from a socially responsible company contributing to a great cause.

ShugaMama,

My momma was a survivor for many many years. I'll always support "Pink for the cause" she would like that. I am not really a pink kinda girl. The bike does seem right.

Hope we get to ride soon.

You can get one of the Spesh S-Works frames in pink this year.

Ellsworth got a bad rap back in 2001 when the their Truth models started cracking at the seat tube. Unfortunately, they didn't stand by their product nor lifetime warranty and created the model "Horrible Customer Service" Since then, they've paid dearly on MTBR and become the laughing stock of customer service. In recent years, they've tried to turn the company around and so far, I think they've been successful at it. The Moment brought back some respect and the Epiphany is a fantastic bike. Look out though, they're finding rockers cracking on the Epiphany but Ellsworth has publically announced they'll replace any rockers, broken or not for aluminum ones free.

If you purchase your bike from The Path, I'm pretty sure Tani will take care of you. They're a big E dealer and Mondo used to work there. Oh yeah, you can order any model Ellsworth in Pink Ano for $100 more. I've been very happy with my Ellsworth and I have no regrets getting it. It's served me well for 6 years and it's still going strong. Don't let the Homers talk you out of it. Don't fall for the Kool Aid.

Lastly, get whatever bike fits you best. Nothing's worse than getting a bike you think looks great but it doesn't fit you right.

why dont you geythe bike you want and take it apart andhave it custom done?
like get it powdercoated or whatnot then take it to an airbrush artist and have him do a custom logo for you
more of a pain but then you et exactly what you want

J Sims,

Thanks I agree with you. I'll have to look at it one more time and ride it. You know how it is - if you ride and like it. There you go buying it. To make myself feel less quilty. Cause I just bought the the IronHorse in March, I'll get rid of the cheap hardtail.

I like the IronHorse my favorite color black - refuse to paint it pink.

Sprockethead,

That's exactly why my freind suggested I don't buy an Ellsworth. He also said they are over priced. Are they overpriced?

Depends on the buyer I guess. If the buyer is completely satisfied with their purchase and it makes them a better rider, then I'd guess the person wouldn't think it's over priced or vice versa.

I do have to say, after 6 years of owning my Truth, it still looks brand new. The shot peened ano finish is amazing. On the other hand, my SC Nomad looks old and I've only had it for 1.5 yrs. I bought it black ano, now it matches my brown poo colored 36. Go figure.

The Ellsworth Epiphany that Tani is letting me borrow fits like a glove, climbed well and descended just as well.

Having said that though, I still can't wait to get my 5 spot built up
