Default Attention San Diego area riders

With the growing number of SD riders here on STR, PLEASE start posting your rides in either the "Trailhead" forum or create ride events in the "Rides" calendar area at the bottom of the Home page. If we start doing this, we can all start to hook up for rides. I hate riding solos so hopefully we can start to get some rides going.

Yeah, what he said. I would really like to see some weeknight rides and some carpooling out (or up) to the mountains.

I'll post at least one weeknight La Costa run per week. Or Cowles, Black Mountain, Elfin, etc.

I plan on shuttling Noble sometime in next couple of weeks too... I'll post it.

Yep, this is a good idea. It would be nice to hook up with locals.

Pac, how was the ride? Were they doing construction tonight? Apparently they decided to demo the bridge (last night?). I just climbed over the debris field though.

Hodges is "in my back yard" so to speak, so I ride it quite often. I usually just ride from home, across the freeway to the parking lot (if I'm meeting someone). It adds almost 10 miles onto the ride, so I can easily get in 25+ miles I've actually gotten so lazy lately that if I can't ride to a destination, I don't do it I'm definitely up for some new stuff though.

I was thinking a nice North County epic would be from my garage, over to North Hodges, then grind up the backside of Elfin (from Del Dios) to the dam--then back of course. I haven't scoped out the "trail" system (likely fireroads+lots of climbing) to connect it, and there would be some tarmac involved...just a thought.

I didn't end up going I got out of my Taekwondo class late and couldn't make it.

I know a guy who has done the Hodges-to-Elfin and he said the path up to Elfin is unridable and miserable. From the looks of it, I can see where he may be right.

Have you ever done the Hernandez Hideaway to the Bernardo MT climb then to the Bandy Canyon Rd parking lot and back?? It makes for about 40 miles. Not a whole lot of climbing (under 2,000) but it's a good long ride.

I'll be riding Daley tomorrow morning. It will be a "dawn patrol" ride as I need to be at work by 9:30. I will be riding by 7 sharp.

Ah, too bad. It was a nice evening tonight--a breeze came in and kept things very chill.

Yeah, I assumed it would be tough going up to Elfin. There is a ton of dirt that can lead up there though. Even if you have to cruise down Del Dios a bit first and double back once you're up on the hill...

Man. Bernardo MT to Bandy would probably kill me I occasionally do the Hodges+San Pasqual connector though. That's worth around 26-ish. I've actually only done Bernardo once...coming down is fun. Maybe we can do helicopter shuttles

I rode Cowles Mt. last night after work. It's pretty cool, although it's only around a 6 mile loop, it's probaly the closest thing you can get to Noble Canyon in San Diego proper.

I am flexible with my times, but as it gets later in the year I am really going to have to cut down on the long drives to weeknight rides.

If you anyone got a PM from me, forget it. I'm posting the ride. I'll post a map and a poll first, to determine what time works for everyone.

We can probably head out from work around 5:15. So we wouldn't get there til 6. Is that enough time for some riding?

This also supposes Justin is fine with riding in a different day so we can take Thurs off to ride dirt
