I had to sell my personal bike, a Laguna Blue EVO to a dealer a few months ago, and since then, things just haven't been the same. : (
So the time has finally come for me to build up my personal EVO. This time, I was able to get a metallic green color. Industry Nine is going to get me a set of silver wheels, with a polished rim to set off the CNC'ed linkage pieces and ball burnished rear end of the frame. I am thinking of the new Formula Oro K24 brakes (silver), and a 2008 Shimano XT drivetrain. The new Shimano stuff seems great, and I have a few sets on order. I am leaning towards a Marzocchi 55 or Fox Vanilla 36, and swapping out the rear shock with a DHX Coil. Here's a pic of the frame that I will be building up, let me know if you have any suggestions on how to build it up. A.

Got this from MTBR: The Marzocchi 55 ATA will replace the 97 AM SL ATA. It’s an air fork with 55mm nickel-coated stanchions, Marzocchi’s ATA adjustment for 125mm to 165mm of travel, lock-out, TST Micro compression and rebound control, and a brand new 20mm QR axle. The 55 ATA weighs just 4.93 pounds (2240 grams). I was a huge fan of the Z1 Light, and this 55 seems like it could be a notch about that fork. I'm not sure of its availability, maybe I will call Marz tomorrow. Yea, definitely hope to see you on an EVO soon! ![]() -A.

I would wait for the new Roco Air with the piggyback, then get the 55 with it.
Definitely get a silver Thomson Masterpiece post and X4 stem. I like the new XT shadow rear der, but just step it up and get the XTR version of it. What kind of cranks were you thinking? |

Yup, I have the Silver Thomson Pieces and will probably do a CK silver headset. I can use XTR, but I thought the silver finish on the XT might go better. I want to use XT cranks. -A.

![]() The Fifty-Five takes the place of the Z1. Like the Z1, the ideal is to combine XC weight with freeride performance. Originally, the 55 was described as a mini 66, but it's actually more than that. It's got all of Marzocchi's top performing features, a brand new 20mm QR axel with its own lever, and it even has a stiffer casting than the 2007 66. On top of that, at 2106g, the specs indicate the top-of-the-line Fifty-Five ATA model to be 200g lighter than the Fox 36 Talas. There are 5 versions of the new Fifty-Five fork, the Fifty-Five ATA, Fifty-Five ETA, Fifty-Five ATA 2, Fifty-Five TST 2, and Fifty-Five R. They all have 35mm stanchions, Marzocchi's new 20mm QR axel, and an aluminum steerer tube. Travel is basically 160mm, with adjustablility varying between models. Specs on the top-of-the-line Fifty-Five ATA are: Travel: 125-165mm adjustable Weight: 2106g / 4.64lbs Adjustments: Lock Out Micro Adj. Compression Compression Rebound Air Travel Adjust Positive and Negative Air Progressive Air Spring Type: Air Stanchion: 35mm nickel-coated Steerer Tube: Aluminum Brakes: 6" post mount (8" max) Quote:

I'm not crazy about all the graphics either. I'm more of stealth guy. But none-the-less it looks like a sweet fork. |
