Okay...I'm an information junkie.
I know there's folks out there that just ride their bikes, but I'm the type that wants to know:
I guess you all get the picture...
- Where I've ridden
- How far I've traveled
- What was my max heart rate
- What was my average heart rate
- How much did I climb
- What was my average speed
- What was my max speed
- How many calories did I burn
- How many miles did I ride this week/month/year
- etc.
I was inspired by Pain Freak's post, Going Good. It made me realize how horrible my training was this year and that I really had no excuse to not ride. I don't roll into the office until about 11am. Well I'm pleased to say that I logged 215 miles last week and I'm recommitted to my goal of riding 5000 miles for 2007.
Anyway...back to my point of this post.
If you do log your rides, how do you log 'em?
There's a bunch of sites/programs out there, but I log them using 4:Each one has their good points:
- MotionBased
- GeoLadders
- Garmin Training Center
- BikeJournal
I'm kind of interested to know if anyone uses BikeJournal. I created an STR "club" on there and set a goal for the club to log 25,000 miles for 2007. I'm sure with all the riders on here, we can shatter that goal and it would be interesting to see how we all compare to each other. (The roadies will no doubt have the mileage advantage and I think Pain Freak has already logged about 73,467 miles for the year).
- MotionBased and the Garmin Edge go hand in hand and you get to see every bit of your data and has great report features
- GeoLadders has an addictive point/ladder system and I'm pretty stoked that I got my first Weekly Top 5 icon. It's also a great resource for finding new routes for both the mountain and the road.
- Garmin Training Center is great for keeping your ride data offline.
- BikeJournal is a great log. Especially if you're not using a GPS and you're just using a regular speedometer. It also has an addictive ranking feature that makes you want to keep riding to move up the ranks.
I see the majority of people out there have some type of speedometer on their handlebars, so I can only assume that you have some level of interest on your ride stats.
Please chime in. I'm very interested in hearing your input.

Where I work, you can't have too much data.
