Default MTBR is so dead

Especially the SoCal Forum. I used to visit it all the time, now it's there's barely any posts about upcoming rides. This place rocks! Thanks George!

All you get on Mtbr. nowadays is mean spirited flaming and "e-tuffguys".
Thanks to this site I have met a ton of really cool people.

I think STR killed the So Cal threads.

I have noticed that on the MTBR the peeps seem more aggresive and a bit rude. Maybe I am just sensitive.

That is so true. Weren't we kinda talking about that at Daley? The "cyber-courage" on MTBR is so rampant it's laughable, especially in the SoCal forum. People who don't know you and have never met you challenging your opinion(s) on everything from trails to bikes. It's just ridiculous.

A couple months ago, I got unloaded on by a guy who didn't think a trail I called gnarly and technical was in fact, gnarly and technical. He did it in a very rude way and was calling me out for something that I stated as my opinion--when in actuality, this trail is considered technical by the majority of the people that ride it. Yet he insisted on calling me out for being what, lame and not cool in his opinion?? This guy is usually rude and obnoxious in the majority of his posts. He appears to be a very skilled rider--hey, great for him. But just because I'm not as skilled as him doesn't mean I'm some sort of wuss that needs to be made an example of by his cyber courage. If there is one internet by-product that I really loathe, it's cyber courage.

Anyway, rant over--sorry.

I posted a joking reply to something SAR_BOATS posted a while back and I got the feeling from his reply to that, that it didn't go over well. The first thing I did was PM him to let him know I was kidding and I didn't mean to upset him. He replied back that he knew it was a joke and not to worry about it. We both agreed though, that stuff like that is what makes this site so great.

So yes, this site is way better

Yes, STR rocks... for so many reasons, but it all boils down to the good people, it really feels like a community at times.

oh and the fact that tech-wise it's a quality site with some great features doesn't hurt

Yep--MTBR Pac Man and I are not the same person. He is Trekker here. We are both "Doug's" I believe. I could only hope to log the kind of miles he does. That guy is a stud. My signature on MTBR actually says "The other Pac Man".

And yes--I'm from (north county) San Diego.

GeoLadders and MTBR Pac Man are the same person--I am not him. I am STATMTB on GeoLadders. My points are low because most of my rides are SD county and aren't official GeoLadders rides.

It has gotten so bad I am actually thinking of canceling my MTBR account. I'm just fed up with it over there.
