Cool Riding shades

Hey dudes, and ettes. So my old ray bans are not cutting it anymore on the trails, they slide off and work for crap under a canopy. My question to the group is, What kind of glasses to you wear? What color shade do you use? Do you need polarized lenses? Thanks!

smith factor D max - lots of lens options... I like the ignitor lenses for most conditions (let's me go from sun to shade w/ no probs), but I change lenses fairly frequently.

I use a multi-lens Smith, polarized for those sunny days, amber(orange) for those not so sunny days and clear for night riding.

I wear Oakley Half Jacket XLJ with clear lenses for evening/night riding and Oakley Valves with Gold Iridium lenses for daytime.

Polarized does help cut down on glare.

Whatever type of shades you wear remember that they will get scratched up so factor in replacement lenses into the cost of the glasses

for M-biking. They always seem to get scratched etc. I try and get some with grip on the nose and far enough from my face so they do not get foggy.

Clear for night riding is a must

Serfas Force sunglasses. They come with 4 interchangeable lenses and a decent case.

Besides, Serfas is a local company and has great customer service. My frame broke and once I got around to sending it in for replacement I got same day turn around. Frames were out for two days, and even though I didn't include lenses, they sent me another set.

Dean,

Everybody knows that the bottoms of beer bottles are prescription... you definitely see things clearer ...for a while... then you don't

Anyone use Transition lenses? I saw last year Oakley, and Smith were starting to offer non-prescription transition lenses too.

I'm a prescription glasses wearer and I'm considering trying transition lenses but with an yellow tint on top. Hopefully I can get the best of both worlds with the shade/glare but still have the clear mode of the lenses bright enough for night/dusk riding.

Dean, I wear prescription BlackFly sunglasses. Actually, there's a eye place on Newport that does all the lense work in house and they can handle frames with some curve/wrap around style in them too. But I'm considering trying something else next time.

I used to wear the smith slider 01 they are interchangeable lenses and they came with 3 sets dark polarized orange and yellow. Now i wear a brand called native REI sells them I didn't like them at first but they are a good fit 4 lenses interchangeable clear yellow orange and dark polarized. There is no frame at the bottom of the lens witch is a plus. comes with a nice case and a small wipe and extreme arms with a head strap built in . 135.00 i think

I found some Performance brand multi-lens glasses that work just fine. And they didn't brake the bank. I won't feel so bad when they need to be replaced due to a scratched lens or a face plant hope not.

This is a reasonable question. I'm not blind w/o glasses, but thanks to astigmatism, everything is blurry--which isn't a good thing when you're negotiating anything technical. I generally just wear my regular prescription sunglasses, but something purpose-built would be nice.

Utopia Underworld. The ones I'm running fit extremely well, and they're available with a polarized lens. These are the glasses I use whenever I'm not using goggles.
