I bought a set of the new Oakley Radar glasses and love them. I never thought I would spend $150 on glasses but they are worth it so far. I bought an additional clear lens for night riding. I opted for the "path" series lens because it has vents on the lens. They also have life time warranty so I should never need to buy another pair of riding glasses, I hope.

I'll be the first to cop to using safety glasses. I get them from a guy at the Saugus swap meet. They come in a wide variety of tints from straight clear, barely tinted somewhat tinted, tinted, really tinted and Limo tint .

He charges $4 each or 4 for $12 for the fancy ones I like

That way I only muster $4 worth of irritation when they go south as they all will eventually, grab another pair, smile and be on my merry way.

I am actually thinking of getting the Performance ones as well and they won't set me back and arm and leg, LOL. I won't loose any sleep if I broke/lost them.

I use a Perforamance brand pair and love them. They have many different styles so try them all on. Good and cheap so i don't worry about them at all.

I'm using Oakley Half Jacket XLJ Transitions (vr50 lenses). They work great when riding in and out of tree cover. I also got a set of clears for night riding.

Dean,

A lot of Oakleys are available with prescription lenses. A little extra $ and a short wait. You do need a current prescription to get the order started.

I use Specialized Singletracks w/ Adaptalite lenses.

I can't stand changing lenses. They're plenty dark when it's bright out and when the sun starts going down they get light enough to still see. When it's so dark that I can't ride without lights, I just take them off as I'm not going really fast enough for the tears to falling from my eyes.

The lenses are tough as hell and they highlight the terrain when riding offroad. What sold me was how fast they darken and lighten when the conditions change. Like when it's kinda dark when riding under tree cover, then you ride out into an open area right under the bright and blazing sun.

Specialized has a pretty cool demo on their site: Specialized Adaptalite

Good luck!

I've got Smith "Threshold" glasses. They're great. I had some "Mainline"s, but the grippy part on the end of the legs was coming off and since they have a lifetime warranty, they sent me some "Threshold"s (they don't make the "Mainline" anymore).

i used to always ride with my Hoven's, but after realizing that the thick arm and frame obstructed my view of cars while riding road, i switched to some crystal clear "eye ride - rally shields" (found here, but bought at san juan capistrano harley-davidson: Eye Ride: Wraps) but i ran those over so i ordered some multi lenses from nashbar. corbeli? hope they work. either way i will run clear, i like it more. i use clear lenses for work and play otherwise, just an easier transition.

Another vote for the Specialized Adaptalites. From the photos, I'd say Cee-Dub and I have the same pair. They are awesome and perform as advertised. I was lucky enough to get mine for $70--half off. The price is steep but they do work well.

For day riding, I wear Oakley M frames. Despite their goofy look, they have some qualities I like:

1. The coating repels sweat, so you don't loose vision as the sweat his splashing off your face.

2. There is no perceptible distortion near the periphery.

3. The lenses don't fog up easily, or maybe the airflow dissipates it.

I don't use polarized riding lenses, as it sometimes makes LCD's hard to read.

Which coating you talking about?? I have regular smoked M frame lenses and I get sweat stuck to them sometimes...

I have managed to fog mine... I just pull them away for a second and they typically clear right up...
