Yes, I agree. I meant to pack one up for the Traverse, but I forgot, along with eating breakfast . Needless to say, I bonked just past Lower Holy Jim. The Gu, Cytomax, Cliffbars, Hammergel I had didn't help me then. Bottom line, eat something before a long ride, especially a 44 mile, 8000 ft of elevation.
