Hi guys,

I wanted to give an update on the frequent mountain lion sightings in the north ranch.

Over the past few weeks our camera traps have picked up:

1 lion sighting in Black Star

3 sightings at Bolero Springs (at least 2 separate lions)

1 sighting in the mouth of Fremont

and 9 sightings in Weir (possibly 3 separate lions)

Last Thursday our science team saw a lion at Bolero Springs where there is also a know deer kill, we rerouted the weekend programs away from Bolero Springs for safety and to allow the lion time to feed for a few days.

Other parks including Whiting's and Irvine Regional Park are also experiencing an increase in sightings.

Please be extra careful while on your tours, try to keep the groups close together, especially the mountain bike and cardio programs.

Thought you all might be interested....
Keep your eyes open and ride with a person slower than you!

Holy smokes, 9 sightings at Weir! Those 3 cats at Weir sound like they're hunting just like those velociraptors in "Jurassic Park."

Hopefully just hunting deer that is.

Thanks for the heads up! I was just about to do a weir loop solo but I'll just stick to the Anaheim hills area.

This summer is going to get interesting.

Like during the last drought, the bears will be swimming in backyard pools in Altadena.

I might start taking my 155 lb South African Bourbel buddy on my rides. He will take care of business.
Built to take on lions in South Africa, this will be cake walk.

Why do I always spot these warnings right after a solo ride?

Wow, for as much solo hiking I do, I'd say I've been pretty damn lucky. Thanks for the info; guess I have to find some people to put up with my crap now! And thanks for the link to the IRLR - I've been looking for those maps and probably gleemed right past 'em!
