I recently got a new KHS tandem. Sad part is my wife hasn't really taken to the idea of us riding together. But my youngest of 3 kids has become my best riding buddy...or stoker.
We headed out to the Fully Loop for an 8 mile ride last Thursday night right before the large Social Tea Party ride. This was our 2nd time out on the trails and she did great! ![]() We climbed almost all of the hills on our trip, except one. But my proudest moment was us climbing the first hill once you cross Euclid...we actually made it! My tandem wasn't really mean for dirt. It was a rigid frame, slick tires and all. But I added a Marzocchi Bomber with 5 inches of travel and added a set of Tioga knobby tires. Turns out, that's all I really needed. The bike performed well and it was smooth enough for what my daughter and I needed. I love this picture! She's so tiny compared to me. She ended up getting quite a bit of attention from the friendly riders that evening. ![]() |

Congrats on the Tandem. That is so awsome that your little girl is riding with you. My wife,ShugaMama, and I are pulling our son around the Loop in a trailer, he loves it . His 1st birthday is about a week away and I can't wait until he's old enough to ride on the back with me. We'll keep our eyes open for you guys on the Loop. Have Fun!!![]() |

Carbonman,
Do you have any suggestions on getting my wife on the tandem trail riding? My wife is a bit more reluctant about it. My little girl is more excited about it than she is. But heck, I'll take what I can get! Let me know when you hit the loop again, we'd love ride with you. Just to warn you, we're slow right now. But once my daughter gets a bit taller and can reach the pedals better, then she can pedal more! Thanks, RL |
