Default What SS fork?

to all the 29er's who run a sus fork in the front...
is a 100mm fork to much for the One9
Was thinking Reba 29er or the WhiteBro Magic29

Any thoughts?

since for me, SSing is all about he climbs, i prefered the 80mm on that One 9. I had a Reba and tried it at 80mm as well as 100mm and while it rocked DH with 100mm, I hated how it so noticeably impacted climbing, but thats me....

I had 2 Reba 29ers and other than the Poploc (which rocked), am not a fan of them, but ok for a SS.

I would personally get the Magic IMV technology for a SS if starting from scratch since the terralogic-like technology is SOWEET for SSing...but hey, thats just me.

I currently have an SC32 converted to 29er (via spacers) and like it quite a bit more than the Reba in terms of suspension action, but miss the Poploc.

Thanks cH4os. This would be the overall wiser choice for me.

Is this your only bike?? If not what else are you riding?? If yo have a full susser you might think about a rigid fork and have a totally dif bike then you are used to. If you like this idea I have an extra KONA unit 29er fork that I will let you use for free to check it out before you buy anything... Just a thought I love my one nine fully rigid climbing out of the saddle never felt so good

I like my ss rigid too. But if you're going sussy, reba with the pop-loc is hard to beat. The pop-loc is a must though.

Thanks for the offer man. No it's not my only bike. I have others, just don't know about going with a ridig fork yet... i like squishy bikes! This project is more about the 29er experience

I will give him a call today... if he hasn't shipped my wheels yet I'll have him add the fork if he's got one in stock....
this has a 20mm option on it . would my portly stature benefit from going this route with the 29" wheels. Chad had said that the I9 set i got was convertible. This was suppose to be a budget build

Rigid is fun for the first 15 min

Get a Reba with pop lock I had mine at 80mm switched it to 100mm......and then back to 80mm. As Fo-"wife took my Visa" said........it is all about the climbing

whereas Burner prefers riding a rigid one for hours on end

and yes, 80mm is where its at for a SS 29er

From the Niner website I get the feeling that 80mm was what the frame was designed around, as that is what the geometry measurements were based on.

I don't ride a Niner brand 29er so I have no specific experience regarding make/model but on my 29er an 80mm fork works great.

My niner handles great w/ a 100mm reba. Their geo is right in the middle between an unsagged 80mm fork and a sagged 100mm

The reba is a good fork. I run it lower than recomended pressure. Hell might as well get all the travel i paid for. Then boost the compression way up, to prevent brake dive. Nice and plush for the DH. Uphill the poplock is the bee's knee's for SS.

If I had to do it over a 20mm WB would be mine. The reba came stock. So i ride it. But when it gets to be rocky switchbacks the flex is unnerving, under my load and lack of style.
