Default 2008 Giant Trance X1 and X2 pics

Here are a few pics I took of the new 5" travel Trance X1 and X2 at my LBS. Giant hooked them up and sent 4-5 of them early. The bike looks pretty sweet. I love the re-design. I got in a pretty good test ride and it rode a lot like the old Trance, just more travel and slacker geometry.

Nice - more travel and finally an accessible shock. Glad to see them do this after turning the Reign into a more downhill-oriented ride. Looking forward to the RR's on this. I predict it will be a popular bike.

I am not sure that I like that lower cable routing. I seems rather vunerable and exposed.

i'm really liking this bike. Dean, the cable routing works well down there. it actually looks like giant was learning from all the complaints reign owners had about crappy cable routing and the "fix" was to route the cables like that.

this frame and the MKIII are currently on the top of the list of frames to replace my reign..i've almost had it for a year now and i don't think i need all the travel or weight for what i ride. I can get a killer deal on the MKIII so i may be going that route in the near future.

I highly reccommend the MKIII, you have seen mine at the entrance of Coyote a few weeks back. Blue MKIII Team.
Great bike.

Dam Nam, I'm totally with you on this. These 5" bikes pedal so well that I could easily use either of these frames to ride anywhere.

Where you getting your MKIII? Just curious.

I hope this one gets the claimed amount of travel. We tried to measure what they claimed to be 5"travel and the best we could get anyway you measure it was 3".

Sweet looking frame and the rockers are downright sexy. I'd like to get some saddle time on one of these.

the trance is a 4.2" bike and the travel you measured will depend on the shock it runs. My stock reign shock is a 7.875x2.00 stroke shock, but the shock shaft itself is a little longer than 2" so you can bottom the shock out without the o ring going to the very bottom of the shaft.

Holy Crap!!! Those new Reign's are bad a$$. The Reign X's haven't really changed, but I was wondering if Giant was going to switch up the standard Reign's like they did the Trance to the Trance X. Wow. I really need to start saving for one of those frames now.

More 2008 Giant news. Buried in here is the fact they took 1.6lbs off some of the Reign frames!

www.cyclingnews.com - the world centre of cycling

Quote:
Similar attention was paid to the longer-travel Reign. In this case, however, the changes are even more dramatic: Giant dropped 738g (1.6lb) from the 153mm (6")-travel frame and increased torsional rigidity by 23%.
