Question Do we need a "Rider Down" catagory???

With all the recent accidents and crashes taking place on a seemingly weekly basis, (AKRut, SSlowSSer's dad, Queenwilhemina, etc, etc..) George, perhaps it is time to consider having a "Rider Down" catagory. This would not only allow for the initial post of the "event" but a follow-up... such as how Ethan's dad is doing??? Of course, we'd get to post those cool aftermath pictures . Hell, half the fun of mountain biking is comparing scars...

Whatcha think?

That's what the injured list is gonna be for Dunno if you saw the thread about testing out the add injury page.

Here's what's left:
  1. currently working on the member's injury pages
  2. then onto the individual injury page (with ability to leave comments)
  3. main page
  4. then the modify injury page
  5. URL mod rewrite the whole thing
  6. QA everything
  7. Then go live
Here's my injury page: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/inju...er.php?uid=191
Sar Boat's: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/inju...er.php?uid=790

Obviously still has work to be done on them. If you're viewing your own page you'll also see a delete and edit button next to every injury.

It WILL kick ass and be really slick once it's done. ETA is real rough but maybe a month. It's slow going because I'm not half-a$$ing it and I still have to ride/work full time/do normal stuff.

OMR's idea is a good one- hopefully the category will become less and less used over time, to the point that the mods need to remove it as everyone would be healthy, riding strong, and only posting pics of minor flesh wounds/battle scars

well, if an update is needed (kidding)

he's out of the ICU and into a normal room with only (ha) an IV, O2, Cathater and chest tube. he's off of all of the vital monitors (finger thing, chest sensors)

I found out yesterday that to add to the laundry list of injuries, he's also got a cracked sternum and they're keping him on the O2 to reinflate the lung quicker as a collapsed lung is a shoe-in for Pneumonia. great.

he's in good spirits and actually was eating something other than jello w/ fruit, soup and the like. the funny part about the jello w/ fruit is that, like george carlin said, "everything else gave up!" when it came to color- yellow jello? all fruit in the cuo was yellow as well. ugh.

he got out of bed tuesday evening when in the regular room with the help of the physical therapist to make it as far as he could under his own power w/ a return trip. he did it again yesterday am with the PT's help and my own. getting up sucked, but back down was easier, so it seems that every day something's a touch better.

the most obviously debilitating item is the clavicle- he needed to scoot over 2" to make life more comfortable and that was a sh!tload of work.

he's supposed to be up and out of bed 2x a day and the doc's want him to be doing as much on his own as possible before he's out. he's also got a little lung excersizer that he's doing better with hourly, so the lung must be doing better.

all for now, the wifey and i are off to see him later. will post progress.

Cool Ethan... I'll wheel the bike over to the hosital and let him ride up and down the halls chasing the nurses!

Glad to hear he's recovering!

George: You da man! the new page sounds great... looking forward (not really when you think about it) to seeing it.

I like the idea- my mom might not though

even better update: moved from regular hospital room to the therapy section today. I'm predicting home on sunday.
