Sorry to hear about that Dean. I was at Beyond Bikes today and they have some Spots. I wasn't paying attention to size but I think i saw a medium. Hopefully Turner has some spares.

Dean- Thanks for the kind words! I knew that bike was toast the second I saw it. With all of the steep dropoffs to the left and right, you should consider yourself MOST FORTUNATE to have snapped it on mellow section.

All I can say is WE... ARE... RIDING... THERE.... AGAIN! I presume you will be bringing the RFX! Right?

I am done for now. My ride report should make you LOL! Tomorrow...

Again, congratulations on the new RFX!!!

Me toooo

It is an unfortunate situation And I remember having to retire my first mtn Bike when I stuck the top tube into the head tube care of a very sudden drop off and had to carry it out. Not good, not fun. but I think you are going to going to be adding a nice rig to the quiver...

New RFX maybe down the road aways...I would hope to have it built before my August Tahoe trip. Who knows maybe the RIP will wow me. I doubt it without a better fork.

Dang, the amazing power of Dean! Sorry about your bike.

I think your bike died from a broken heart because you didn't take it to the loop on Thursday...

Maybe it's time you joined the Ventana family?!!!

Dean,

Bummer to hear about your bike, but with a new bike coming along, I'm sure you're pretty excited to. I'll be waiting for your RIP 9 review and hopefully you'll bring it along to the Loop so we can all check it out. Oh yeah, don't forget to remove your Homer headtube badge.

Medium aged grasshopper (Dean),

Dino is absolutely right. Strawberry Peak is not a place to fool around on with broken frames (speaking from an experience of 2 broken ribs and multiple contusions from a 70 foot fall!) Consider yourself very lucky. I found out after my fall several years back that trail has killed quite a few people (mostly hikers)... but all the same, very glad to hear that all you have to worry about is frame replacement and not hip replacement!

Besides, you needed a new bike anyway... it's a safety issue... the one reason that wives or significant others can't say no!

Wow! A 70 foot fall! Your legend continues to grow!!!

Riding that trail, one has NO CHOICE but to respect it. Only a fool would not. I keep thinking to myself, what would have happened if the snapped frame shot Dean off in the wrong direction. Glad he made it out safely.

THX Andy, The Homer headtube badge is safe and looking for a new RFX frame to feel at home. In the meanwhile I am sure the RIP will do.

You are right I and am thankfull to have not been sent over the side by a broken frame.

And again you are right I do need a new bike for safety reasons, to be extra safe..I think I will build two new bikes.

Doug, I am reading between the lines. Did you also replace a frame recently?

Just a cracked seat tube on the sir 9. Niner replaced it instantly so I can't complain. They're sending it back to Reynolds for analysis.

A cracked head tube on el patron. Again - easy replacement on warranty.
