Most excellent! congratulations on the job.

I like what you say about being imtimadated, in my case it was or holding people up on group rides. I rode alone for the first three years because of negative experiences on group rides. Only in the last year do I ride with others and have found like minded people to ride with. Put me on your ride list.

Again good luck on the new job,

Dean

I am not sure you need to label your ride.
Unfortunately everyone's definition of Newbie, Hamerfest, Mellow, "only a few climbs" or whatever is different.
Just post up where the ride is and what the pace and policy of the ride is, that way no one is misinformed/mislead when they get to the trailhead.
We've never lost a rider on one of our Saturday am shop rides, in fact encouragement is the key on our rides...Jason, you and Willie have been there, you know.
I have been doing group rides for a while and the number 1 rule is staying together.
I have been the rider blown off the back many times, I am morbidly obese according to the BMI chart!- and if it wasn't for the -broom wagon - sweeper- nice guy watching the back with positive words-I would have thrown my bike into the bushes and quit right there!
But instead you realize you can do it, maybe not as fast as the cat 1 guy pulling the train, and all that suffering is forgotten....its kind of the basic element of racing...you suffer, your ok, you suffer, its over.

Get those rides started up and good luck!
I am pretty sure I cannot make it if its on a Saturday though

Yeah I like Neil rides he never leaves me
I like doing the early morning rides with Adrenaline guys.
It's fun riding with them. Even when they have to be at work they still wait for me . I think Neil can climb better than me sitting on his handle bars eating an Ice cream bare footed. Not bad for a guy who is Morbidly Obese.
I was thinking about maybe getting and evening ride together. I don't know if i will have time for all this but it's something I think about.

Default I think we should just give him a quick beating anyways .

You hold em Ill hit em. Let's duct tape him to a tree and let my dog hump his leg off. That will show him.

This is very true -- Neil is very encouraging and we feel like we've made some great riding buddies. Oh yeah and BMI charts are made for people with NO MUSCLE. Those things tell me I'm AVERAGE!! Can you believe that, AVERAGE?! PSH!!

Default Congrats...

Glad to hear about the new gig. Also, your group ride idea is a great one. Patrick(carbonman) is a strong rider on his own, but loves to lead newbies and others on rides. He hangs back and gives tips, encouragement, tech/mech support when needed. His feeling is this is a sport he loves and he wants to share it with others, and there is nothing worse than the "typical" group ride where the strong folks get to the re-group point, rest and wait for others, then take off immediately when the last person gets there. I know many folks who were turned off to riding due to these types of experiences, so if you are going to start these, We'd be "in" Good luck with the new job- the guys at the Bike Co are nice- I bought my frame from them.
