Hey guys I ride about twice a week into work. Long story short I am actually thinking of getting this bike for my work and around town commuting. I have been pricing around this bike a bit and a LBS in the C Mesa has it for 1169.00. The sales man was informing me that this bike has been on the floor for awile he said they would really work with me to sell it. Anyways how much lower should I haggle for the bike. I want the bike shop to make some money as well but I want my deal as well, understand?
So if I walk in the store with cash right now deal how much lower should I go? I have attached a pic here for you all to see.

My thoughts....
It is a Mtn bike w/ road tires, and is quite expensive. I don't think I'd even be willing to pay $800 for it. I don't see why high end components are necessary on this type of bike. Are pounds going to make a difference? Do you really need disc brakes? You want a bike that looks like crap so people don't steal it. Assume someone is going to take off with it. Less $$ is better. I'm using my old Trek 4900 as a road bike. I got it for under $400 brand new and used it as my mtn bike for 3 years. I spent less than $20 on slick tires and I think it is very comparable to the bike you are looking at. |

It's cheaper to buy another set of disk wheels with slicks on them and just run your hardtail MTB

Dude that's way too much money for a commuter/flat bar road bike.
You can easily get a Corrida from Ibex for way less than that. Better yet get a Redline 925. It's the best commuter bike out there. $499 retail and you can ride it as a fixed or ss. I have one and its my commuter bike. ![]() It's has been on a continual upgrade mode. Read about it HERE. |

Yeah I agree with others in this thread... that bike looks slick, but is expensive and someone will likely steal it. You should pick up a beater off craigslist instead.

Sage advice so far. I agree with everyone. Thats' a cool-looking commuter, but too expensive. No need for disc brakes, etc. If that redline 925 is $500, that's a sweet deal. Of course, slicks on your beater mtn bike would do the trick too for even less dough.
