I couldn't find the "official" LCWP map anywhere online. I've only seen them at the two trailheads.

There is a nice LCWP map at Mt Bike Bill's website, but it includes unofficial trails.

Boy do I feel like an idiot. Gene I owe you an apology. I mistook you for someone else and fired off a post without checking first.

We've never met but I hope we can ride together soon and I can buy you a beverage after.

Lesson learned.

No problem Craig, the first one will be on me. See you on the trails. Gene

This is my phys/psych outlet area. It's close, so I can just loop it via Willow from home w/o dealing w/ a car after work. I don't contribute any fees (other than living in Laguna) to the parking, so do I have a leg to stand on?

I'm a little protective of my yard. I come home from vacation and read the the jack-booted thugs (Rangers.) are out patrolling and threatening citations? I've never...

The CCSP map always made me laugh because there is so little s/t depicted on that map (legal in the context of this thread). I am such a scofflaw, I guess. I just go ride in LCWP and CCSP because it's easy and close. I'm always alone or with one riding partner, not 5 or 7. And don't get me started on the LCWP map. It has more depictions (edit: even depictions that are NOT on the CCSP map, but they overlap. Legality?) but it's a copy of a copy of a copy of a poor scan with some freehand on the back.

A "trip" somewhere else is worthy of a RR to me, but my back yard isn't, so I rarely talk or write about it. If I'm traveling somewhere, there's a real good chance I'm headed to a sanctioned area w/o legal issues. I guess we take for granted our home area, or even that we have one to ride from home. I see it's best I kept my trap shut.

I guess I'm saying I'm passionate about this area and being on the trail, vs talking about it on the 'netz, should be far removed. Kinda like fight club...

Oh PS If something is depicted in, say, Geoladders as an official route, does that make it legal? I obviously know the easy answer, but discuss.

Mancher - thanks for posting the map of Crystal Cove/El Moro (nice avatar too). I just wish the signs they have in the park that depict that map were actually readable. The ones I've seen are so faded that a newbie would have no clue. I've only ridden there a handful of times, but I've had several encounters with people asking for directions...twice while standing next to unreadable trail signs!

I'll add another vote for trailhead signposts on every legal trail. Maybe that's something that we all could help with through SHARE or other orgs?

I think we should avoid posting illegal trail names as others then go looking for them. But I guess MOST of us know where they are. I just don't think that we need to popularize them. 2 cents

This is a tough one for the rangers. Everyone seems to genuinely appear to have no idea that the trail was closed. Today I ran into someone on a trail in the Irvine Open Space who told me that they didn't know that it was not ok to be there. They were in an SUV!
