Cool whats the best hook up on rubber for the 29er thing?

looking on getting a new front tire (rampage is getting oLD) and want to find something different than the Nevegal for the Niner so I was wondering if all the 29er monkies can share their knowlege/experience and help a brotta out to find the sweet set up for both tiers for the SS 29er thing.

thanks for the help

I second the Spec Resolution... great tire, especially when the rampage is overkill.

oh, and I've actually been very pleasantly suprise with it out back too

i've heard good things bout the spec res too. matt, in what sense would the rampage be overkill? it seemed to roll fairly well, and gripped extremely well for me over the big rocks, the dust covered hardpack and it floated through the deep/loose sand and dirt.

i hear ya jose bout wanting to try something different. i have read lots of positive things about the spec res on mtbr. sounds like that may be the way to go if you dont want to get another rampage.

Been running a SB8 on the back of mine... really like the way it handles. Taken it down Coldwater and Bell Ridge and really seemed to work well. Good traction for the weight. Excellent climber on hardpack. Mounted one on the front as well for a while.. really fast rolling at Aliso Woods... but not enough tire for other places on Saddleback. Running the Nev on the front right now (you can't beat this tire for traction!) but have heard good things about the Spec Resolution. I run both tires down in the 20's... no flats yet!

Rampage is heavier and rolls well but not quite as well as those center ramped knobs on the Resolution.

I run both of those tires on different bikes, I like them both, just feel like the Rampage has more grip and is a little slower. When I need all out confidence, especially up front, Rampage is the way to go.
