Default Tire Question

Just put a WTB Mutanoraptor 2.4 on the front and to my dismay its almost smaller then my old 2.15.
I have heard that sizes vary, but this much?
Any reccomendations for a REAL 2.4 or 2.5 thats not too slow for all around use?
Thanks

I just bought a WTB Stout 2.35 and it's a decent size, great traction and rolls well. I wasn't a fan of WTB tires before this but this is changing my mind. The Prowler looks good too but I don't have experience with it.

Agree with Guero on the Blue Groove for the front but I like the Stick-E compound better.

I have the 2.4 Mutanoraptor on my rear. I'm surprised it seems small to you. WTB makes the Weirwolf, too, 2.5 which is a decent sized big tire. I've also heard good stuff about the Maxxis Big Betty and High Roller. Maxxis "big" tires do seem to be, well, big.

If you want a big tire that grips very well go with a 2.4 Schwalbe Big Betty, tons of grip and it rolls very well. Otherwise I'd recommend the Blue Groove, great grip but rolls a bit slower.

I have a blue groove 2.35 on the front(stick-e). Good for hardpack to loose over conditions. Kendas run true to size while maxxis run small(2.5 is pretty much a 2.35 kenda). Im pretty sure WTB use a whole different sizing system on their tires.

Craig you are right, both of the WTB tires look good. I ran 2.5 WBT Weirwolfs for years, it fact Mr. Freak is running one of my old Weirwolfs now. I never had the sidewall cuts on WTB's like I have Kenda. But it is hard to drop the sticky compound Blue Groove / Nevegal combo...they just grip like no other. I will try the new WTB's next time out. I hope the new WTB's are true to size, in the past they have run way small except the Timberwolf.
