Why is it that if you don't pick up the 3 oz of crap that your dog dropped, you can get a ticket. But it is totally legal to leave 15 lbs of horse crap in the middle of a trail, hmmmm?

I got into a heated, drunken agrument with a coworker about this a few years ago. She was pro equine and I'm pro canine. I was giving her a hard time about horses crapping all over the trail and they don't have to stop and pick it up and if I don't pick up after my dog, I get a ticket. Basically her agrument came down to that fact that horses eat all natural food (oats, etc, whatever) and dogs eat processed food. The argument ended when I nailed her with, "Isn't dog food made from horses? What could be more natural than that?" We don't talk much any more.

Horses are expensive. Horse people have money. Politicians like money. Politicians make laws. Horse people give politicians money.

Nice horsey.

You beat me to it. I wondered the same thing the other day as I was at the light at Newport & Chapman, and looked over at the spot where the horse trail met the sidewalk. There was a HUUUUGE horse pile adding it's unique ambiance to the neighborhood. Must be real fun for somebody waiting at the bus stop on a hot day, or trying to roll a wheelchair through it after a light rain.

I can just imagine the horse-sized version of those dog doo cleanup bag dispensers, loaded with 30-gallon Hefty bags that equestrians were expected to dispose of properly. Yeah, right.

And I don't care what horses, dogs, or any other critter eats: That stuff is still going straight down the storm drains and adding to the fouling of the beaches after each rain.

People pay extra up in Santa Barbara to live next to the horse crap. If you live in Norco, you can't give it away - huh??????

Having accidently takin' my bike through both, I will take the horse shit anyday. The horse shit seems to dry up to nice little piles of straw on the trail.

jesus Chris, how hard do you have to try to botch a sentence like that? i got nothing against joggers, especially the cute ones that run in small cliques up in my neck of the woods. im like "good morning ladies, ever met an accomplished downhill mountain bike racer?" they return with a "no" and i retort "yeah, me neither, take it easy."

Are you kidding ?! You're complaining about runners coming down on you too fast on the trail? How you think runners and hikers feel when us mtn bikers come roaring down the trail?! Seriously, with all due respect, you have no right to complain.
