Thumbs up Lacey's Got a Big Bike!

Well, last week I got it all together.....

Lacey's Kona CoilAir!

15" Kona CoilAir frame w/ FOX DHX 5.0 Coil rear shock
FOX 36 RC2 Talas fork
Shimano Deore LX & XT drivetrain
Answer Protapers 2" rise w/ Kona 50mm stem (not the dh chunk of aluminum)
Crank Bros Mag Mallets
Syncros front wheel, Mavic 317 rear
2.35 Kenda Nevegal front - 2.0 Maxxis Larson TT rear
Avid Mech disc brakes

Weighs in at 34 lbs. Not bad for a six inch travel bike.

We got out to Aliso for a quick loop, up Chola-down Rock-It.
She cleaned Chola, a little slower than normal, but this bike is 10 lbs heavier than her race hardtail.

Going down Rock-It was fun to watch.
She wasn't flying, but she was moving pretty decent....right down the middle!

Afterward's she said it felt really low to the ground, and more "wobolly" than her hardtail.

Wobolly?

More SQUISHY!!

More FUN?

"Maybe"....

Nice!!

Since she only has one ride on it, she didn't want to try the DH race this weekend in Fontucky.
I believe it'll happen soon though.

Maxwell - you trail abuser!!! While taking the photos, you're standing in the delicate area of Rock-it that will soon be eroded away! You're bad! You'll be to blame for the closure of that trail!

Anyhow...just take her to Fontucky on Saturday to practice, and maybe she'll become comfortable on the bike enough to race on Sunday.

Talking Crash....

You're such a cool dad! The only problem with the new bike is that she is going to be going much faster over the gnarley stuff now... and with your family history of crashes... oh oh!

BTW: thank her for riding the middle of Rocket like a pro! We do so appreciate that...

See ya,

OMR

You're a great dad. I keep taking my kids on rides hoping they'll catch the bug. They enjoy it but it's not a passion for them. I keep hoping they'll like riding more than video games.

Yeah, I'm working on that with my son Jake.

We're going for a ride around Whiting Ranch tomorrow.

I think you're going to find that you have created a Monster, give her a couple months of steady riding and she'll be kickin all our butts up and down the trails! Congrats Lacey!

Very cool! This gets me pretty stoked, my 10 year old daughter is starting to ask me more and more to go riding. Lacey is going to love it, all that time spent on a hardtail, and her fitness, she'll be tearing up the DH for sure!

Congrats to Lacey on the new bike. Nice bike too. If your riding Whiting tomorrow, that new route on Sage is still very soft. I rode it today. If you haven't ridden it yet, it's a series of tight "S" turns. The straight and direct rutty section is closed off.
