Default Sizing question- Medium or Small?

I am getting a new bike for my wife. She is 5'7 maybe 5'8. Can't decide between 16-17 inch frame vs 14-15 inch frame. I am buying online and can't find the bike locally, so can't really size the exact model.
Its the K2 Lithium 3.0
Any thoughts? She seems to think go small, but I am worried it will be too small. Remember I am the chap that is selling the IH MKIII Comp on this forum, the 19", that I tried to force her on. JK

I'm that height and I'd go medium. Your mileage may vary.

I'd say medium.
Have you checked to see if K2 has sizing suggestions online? Might also check REI if you have one within reach - they carry K2, so even if they don't have that model you might at least get a feel for their sizing.

Thanks for the input guys. I just needed a nudge. I felt the medium, after looking on K2 website sizing guide its a no brainer.

Exclamation I third that...

Unless she's going to be XC racing, go with the medium. Much more comfortable for her... and you know: happy wife...happy husband!!!!

PS: And don't be giving her all your old cast off biking sh*t.
