Default Bikers suck!

That's what was shouted at me and my girlfriend by some teenage punk driving by while we were coming back from the beach along Venice Blvd. Oh, the glee when I looked way up ahead and saw the light turn red and the car had to stop. I hit the gas. I rolled up on his passenger side window, caught him completely off-guard and shouted at the top of my lungs, a foot away from his face, BOOO!!!!! He just about had a heart attack, went white as a ghost! I asked him to repeat what he said, which he did, at which point I layed into him with a string off non-pleasantries I need not describe. Then my girlfriend rolled up and joined in the fun, including one zinger about their ghetto bolt-on spoiler on the Civic (she bikes, she cooks, she step up on punks! she rocks!) Meantime, there's about 40 cars by now all at the intersection taking in all in. When the kid finally got some sack (musta hurt, having a girl knockin' his spoiler), he made like he'd get out and fight me. I laughed and egged him on. His buddy restrained him, as his door opened and closed and openend and closed, all while I stood there begging him to get out to catch a face-full of top tube. I wouln't have hesitated to beat this punk with my solid steel fixie. At half my size, he wasn't really going to get out anyway unless he was actually as dumb as he looked. As soon as his buddy started "holding him back" it was all a bunch of empty theatrics as people in their cars started laughing at him. A couple dudes in cars were like "we wouldn't had yer back" etc. And the light turns green, and off they go towards into the strip-mall sunset looking for their next meth fix.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't spend the rest of that ride looking over my shoulder for the high-pitched whine of that civic coming back to run us off the road.

Wow. Just thought I'd share another biking experience in LA.

PS: No offense intended to Civic drivers (unless you've bolted a spoiler on it and seriously think that's cool).

Don't you know that spoilers on Civics make them faster

I thought it was the big tail pipe that did that.

As far as confronting someone just because they yelled something at me. I donno, I guess it depends on my mood. Back in the day I would not have blinked to either get in their face or boot their door on the way by. But in this day and age I'd hate to make it 44 years on this earth only to be taken out by some punk with a handgun. Like I said, depends on my mood. Glad to hear it worked out for you though.

I'm glad I drive an Accord with a bolt on spoiler and not a Civic--that'd be embarrassing

I'm just kidding here. I drive a Ford SUV that doesn't need a spoiler. Now my wife's Toyota Corolla on the otherhand...

Hey, don't knock the big tail pipe! It works for some vehicles (mine included)!

A few weeks ago I was riding to the west end of the Fullerton Loop from my house. My girlfriend and I were climbing up Rosecrans when a couple guys driving a convertible Mustang yelled "Faggots!" They obviously didn't see my gf's ponytail. Kind of ironic when I'm riding with a chick, and the two guys were driving together in a chick car. If only we had the opportunity to catch them.

If any of you remember the old roadie days, you probably remember kindly waving your Zefal or Silca frame pump at people in cars.
