I know that I dont know nearly all of you and have only ridden with a handful or so but I wanted to thank those of you for riding with me and helping get me off the couch!
A friend took this picture of me tonight and I was browsing through some old pics of me from January and was shocked. All the riding and diet has really paid off and it really showed when I compared the two pics. So, just wanted to say thanks to the guys/gals that I have ridden with here and see you on the trails! Thats me 38lbs ago... yuck! ![]() |

You lost 39 libbies in 4 mos! WTF!!!!!21!1!!! I've been riding since August '05 and mtbing since Jan '06. I started at 205 and weighed in today at 180!!!~ Now, I know I'm putting on weight in my legs (big time, bitches, recognize!) but that's rediculous. I gotta drink more green tea and shit.
Oh, sorry. This wasn't about me? My bad. Congratulations and everything. ![]()

there is a really good passion story on mtbr about a guy that was at the point where he was going to have gastric bypass surgery to lose weight but decided he would start riding a bike around for exercise. As the weeks went by, he was getting stronger and stronger and riding more. After nearly a year he lost a ton of weight and was healthy again. Its amazing since he could barely walk without a walker a year earlier. i'll try to find the thread, but it truely is inspiring. edit... found the post, its by stormcrowe... the guy lost like 352 lbs! is now does touring rides Post your BEFORE & AFTER success story photo's - Mtbr.com Forums

Thanks guys and gals! Yeah, I changed my diet alot. I travel a lot for work and eating big meals with media people was getting me fat. Basically I did what a lot of diets out there say, I cut my portions way down, dropped alot of the carbs and picked up more proteins. I also made it a point to ride or run 5 days a week. Even if I am not riding something EPIC I still get on the bike or hit the treadmill 4-5 days. When I travel now I bring my running shoes so I can run at the hotel. Im not perfect but when I have a bad eating day I try and make up for it the next couple days.
Now that I have lost a bunch of fat I am starting to gain muscle and get stronger. So, my diet changed again and I am eating more carbs now because I need them for muscle recovering and the energy. Plus I also bought some dumbells and working on upper body conditioning. I am just not gorging myself on huge amounts of food like I used to. Also now I think my metabolism is finally waking up because I am hungry much more often so I think I am burning better than my body was before. It was alot of work but was really worth it. I dont know who that fat guy was on the left either! I still love a good pint and slice of pizza I just dont do it daily Aside from the obvious health benefits from being in better shape I am super stoked that its helped my riding tremendously! ![]() |

Congrats, man - well done!
And thanks for a little kick in the butt. I've been loaded down with projects lately and have only been on the bike twice in about 20 days. My metabolism is still up, so it's been a double whammy of overeating and under-exercising. Saw your post & just picked up the weights long enough to get my heart rate up a bit, and I will definitely ride a couple times before this week's out. Good on ya mate, and keep up the great work. ![]()

However, I had to start watching calories and drop sodas (diet and otherwise) 'cause I stopped losing weight. I eat about 2500 calories a day now (burning at least 700 riding) and am drinking water or unsweetened tea. I actually weighed in a 179.6, my lowest ever today. So, there's hope. I want to get down to 160. ![]()

Deal. But can you bear to ride with lowly multi-speeders who paid more than $30 for their frame?
