As if you needed a reason to wear a helmet (cause we're all edumacated in here and wouldn't ride without one)....check out this story:

Too bad they didn't catch the hit and run driver... at least the guy is OK... lucky to be alive even with the helmet on!

On Sunday, I rode to the top of Blackstar with my gf, and on the way down, she had a relatively low-speed crash. In addition to the normal cuts, bruises, and scrapes (requiring 6 stiches on her left arm), she hit her head on a rock. She destroyed the helmet. Her memory wasn't very good for about half an hour, and then it fortunately fully came back.
She's doing OK now but, of course, she's a little sore. Thankfully, her helmet saved her. I see guys carrying their helmets on their Camelbaks for "easy" sections of a trail. Unfortunately for them, natural selection may take its toll. Always wear your helmet. |
