Default There've Been a Couple

Then:

I was about 9 years old and thought it would be fun to ride myself on my own handlebars. Not using the established "sit backwards on the bars w/ your feet on the pedals" style, mind you--that was old news even then. Nope, I planned to actually climb out on the front of the bars and, well, coast for awhile. I guess. Didn't plan that far out, actually.

Turned out I didn't need to.

Got my big yellow Schwinn hauling @ss down the street, threw one foot over the bars (big ol' ape hangers, as I recall), then the other. Done that before, no biggie, but here now was the moment of truth. Pulled on the grips, and hopped off the seat onto the bars, smooth as silk.

Success...for about two feet.

Front wheel immediately turned 90°, bike stopped dead, and I went skidding on bare knees, belly and chin halfway down the street. Helmet? Not in those days. Hell, I didn't even have shoes on.

Pure, unadulterated genius.

Was stuck in the house for a couple days, but after that, yeah, I was pretty embarrassed. Couldn't laugh about it though--scabs kept cracking.

Now:

Was out on Gooseberry Mesa w/ a large group. Messing around, tried to pop a wheelie and completely looped it. Landed on solid slickrock, smack on the top o' my crack. I was seeing stars and clutching my rear like a three year old in desperate need of a Porta-Potty.

Noting my pained expression, hands on @ss and stiff-legged gait, a companion inquired if I felt I'd "just done a nickel in Chino." Told him I'd never experienced love in the clink, but yeah, I'll bet it's similar.

Mine was almost exactly like Burners. I was at a light and fell over. I was to embarassed to look at the peoples faces in their cars.

Mine was about 4 years ago when I went riding with some friends and we started talkin to these girls and they followed us to some hills and jumps that we always rode at, so my friends were all jumpin while I was trying to spit some game. I was like let me show you how its done. I rode up to the top of the first hill and felt a little macho so I got an extra long run at it and and bunny hopped to look cool as I started down the hill but when I landed my front tire hit sand and turned 90% and I went OTB, After a few kartwheels I came to rest on my back all dirty and with a nice broken clavical. Not to mention once I got hurt the girls left.
