Default Desert Plant Help

Anyone know what plant/cactus this is. I took this picture today just outside Salome, AZ.

I use to not care much for the desert but the more time I spend in AZ more I seem to like it. US Highway 89 is an outstanding scenic trip. I have been on it
through all of Arizona and up to Bryce Canyon in Utah. It also will take you to Jacksons Hole. Really a must do road.

A couple of pics from todays travels...tomorrow riding in Flagstaff. I also want to take a side trip/hike up to Sunset Crater.

I don't know what kind of plant that is, but I did want to just say that I love the desert too. It kinda amazes me that people see it as a dead, barren place. It's just that it's more subtle. I especially like the areas in Utah and Arizona. Just beautiful. I don't know if I've gone on Highway 89 it but it looks like a great drive!

I haven't been on Highway 98 *or* 89 either. Should I do both?

I concur! Joshua Tree is one of my favorite camping spots.
Clean camping! Staying up late and watching a good meteor shower is phenomenal.

Flagstaff is one of my absolute favorite towns. I made a nice pit stop there on my drive out to socal, extremely laid back town, nice bars and restaurants and some killer mountain biking. I hit up Absolute Bikes and they gave me recommendations and directions to some rocky, rooty, red dirt radness. I was out for three hours or so and only scratched the surface.
