Default What's the best kickstand for XC riding?

Hey guys, I need a kickstand for my bike. It has to be durable and hip, and it has to hold my bike upright. Any suggestions?

i use Banshee kick stands. forged aluminum. sealed bearing at the pivot and durable rubber foot. i opted for the 42a durometer foot for traction. because when i kick that stand and im free standing i only use the best.

I heard Push is offering their Factory Race System for these now.

I got the Ti with the Carbon Fiber insert. That puppy is stiff and can even hold my bike up facing uphill. CC gave it the thumbs up!

I forgot to mention that I weigh about 240 pounds. I'd NEVER trust carbon fiber to hold my weight, and I don't want to find myself in the middle of the trail holding my bike upright by hand.

The "rear MTB kickstand" in the catalog page looks good. But I don't have a rear MTB. Do you think I could modify it to work with my regular bike?

the knock offs aren't even disc compatable. in 2008 the new designs will pedal uphill with no bob but remain very active and plush when pointed downhill. full of adjustments for geometry and suspension set ups. i can't wait

Is this really a serious discussion about kickstands?

I'm with the folks who posted photos of trees. Granted, there aren't many of those around here. Just lay your bike down on the non-drivetrain side.

yes this is a very serious topic. by the mere fact you would even question the topic concerns me. there is enough trail damage by users and now you want to lean your bike against trees?! how dare you.
please people stop eating beans also, your carbon foot print is a size 12

Words gotten out that someone is trying to backdoor me and install a kickstand without my approval. Thanks Jason and Pain, we won't be having any of that.

If you would like to expedite the process please have all the proper paper work filled out and have your kickstand readily available for inspection

Sincerely,

-cc

You know, more important than a fancy kickstand, and there are obviously many as you can see, is that you properly maintain it. First, you have to keep it lubed properly. I like to put some synthetic grease around the ball and joint to make sure it doesn't squeak when you're putting it down. That's really annoying. The synthetic grease is important because it won't break down as quickly under harsh conditions. And, you'll probably put it down a lot, especially once you see how it easy it is to use your lubed kickstand.

The other thing that's important is kickstand cleaner. You could probably use regular bike cleaner, but I use an extra-strength cleaner because my kickstand gets super dirty when I'm using it. It gets mud, sap, and the occasional wild animal scat on it. That's not good! A dirty kickstand can cause a lot of problems that I probably don't even have to mention, so it's a good idea to clean it. I clean my kickstand after every ride and re-lube it, just to make sure. You might even want to put a little protecting polish on the kickstand. Use firm, even strokes when you polish your kickstand and I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results. Don't do it to late at night you might find that your clean, lubed and polished kickstand makes you ejaculate aloud with joy.
