Hey folks,
Has anyone ridden the loop backwards? If so did you face any resistance from other riders? |

I have, but it's been a long time. There used to be a group that did it regularly (they may still do) on Thursday nights, I think - bad timing. In my opinion, doing it when the loop is crowded is dangerous. I saw a lot of close calls with that backwards group.
Most people know the normal direction of the loop, and don't expect riders to be coming around corners the wrong way at speed. However, it's still normal to always expect hikers with loose dogs at all times. |

I do it sometimes but only during "off hours" otherwise there's too much traffic and it can be dangerous at Bastuncherry near the train tracks. A friend of my once crashed into someone doing the reverse loop there and both were knocked into the street. Fortunately there were no cars and they only had a few bruises. They both needed new front wheels though. It's dangerous because you're flying down the pavement headed into a right turn looking to the left for traffic and ya don't expect anyone comming from the right near the sidewalk.
I don't think it's harder backwards, I think it's much easier. |

Be Careful on the climb after crossing Euclid past Laguna Lake....I know I always worry that someone is going to be walking/climbing up there when I want to hit that jump...I think it's easier too...the climbs are a little steeper and shorter and the rest is cruise down hill...

Gawd, do you know what would happen if you rode the loop three times straight in reverse? It would be armaggeddon, the world would seize to exist, in fact the whole universe would collapse onto itself. My gawd man, for the sake of humanity don't play with this...You know not what you do. Stop now!!!

No but Bloody Mary, the ghost of the loop, will ride in on her undead 1962 Schwinn and put a stick in your front tire forcing you to crash into an oak tree.
