Even though I may have joined the dark side when I converted mt Giant XTC into a SS, I'm still stuck riding a geared bike from time to time. so much so that I'm starting another build, this time a Rocky Mountain Elevation. Since converting the XTC to SS, I had drivetrain parts lying around and found this sweet deal of a bike(Rocky Mtn) on ebay. I bought the bike for $270.00
, but the shipping cost was nuts! ($120.00) . He wasn't trying to make out on the shipping cost huh? Anyway, the bike is stripped and frame ready for powdercoat(no more desert sand color). Here is a list of parts waiting to be mounted and a few pics of what the bike was. I'll post pics of the finished bike when complete. 03 Rockshox Sid Race w/lockout Rims: Mavic 717 with XT hubs/shimano centerlocks Tires: WTB Mutano Raptor 2.4 for the front, WTB Nano Raptor 2.1 for the rear Hayes Hyd disc brakes Drive train: Truvativ Stylo crankset w/eggbeater pedals, XT shifters, XT rear & front derailleurs, XT 11-32 cassette Answer ProTaper carbon bars PZ Racing A2B carbon stem S-8 Cane Creek headset Easton EC70 Carbon with SDG Belair saddle |

Looks good so far. Killer deal on the ride. What color are you powder coating it?

Thanks, after deciding not to go with the desert sand color again since 2 of my bikes are already that color, I was leaning toward a color call "blood red" it's sort of a matte finish, really deep and dark. Then there's matte "rustic" color. I'm still not sure. Rocky Mountain sent me a set of frame decals, I'll be putting those on as well. Quote:
No, the frame is Easton Elite Taperwall Aluminum, weighs about 3.48 lbs. Go ahead and build a SS, it's fun and a change of pace from riding a geared bike all the time. The "Dark Side" is strong, join us! |

Actually Fedex and UPS just recently upped the cost of oversized packages. Bikes that used to cost me $40-50 to ship now run me $75. Add to this that most shops will charge $20-40 for boxing up a bike for shipment. ![]() ![]() |

Ya, even though the shipping cost seemed high, the bike was professionally packed, I still got a sweet deal and now I'll more spare parts.
