Default Jax To Jax For Joe March 17th

Hey people! I'm skipping Spring Fling to do the "Jax to Jax for Joe" ride March 17th. Those of you aren't doing Spring Fling, PLEASE COME! Joe is the Service Manager at HB Jax. He is fighting cancer, and his insurance company will not pay. He needs our support in his ongoing battle.

He is seriously the coolest, nicest guy - and a great mechanic to boot. Many of you know him I'm sure. Please come. You can sign up for the ride at active.com. All proceeds go to Joe. Go to www.jaxbicycles for more details (routes, etc.).

You can also make a donation to Joe by going to active.com.jax4joe.

I hope to see some of you there! If you can get a big group of us together, we should all meet somewhere and do the same route.

Hey Sarah, I think the link is JAX Bicycle Center - Home

Here's the info in case you don't want to use the link.

This is Joe Schraff, Jax Service Manager at the
Huntington Beach location.

Joe has been battling cancer for several years. It
keeps coming back to get him.

Joe needs treatments that total $73,180. The reason we
are raising money for Joe is because his medical
insurance does not cover these treatments. All proceeds collected will go directly to Joe for treatments and tests.

We need your help and support. We love Joe and we are going to have fun raising money to help him get what he needs.
3 ways to give:

1. Write a check to: Joe Schraff.
Send it to: Jax 4 Joe Ride, 14280 D Culver Drive, Irvine, CA 92604
2. Make a donation through ACTIVE.COM in any amount.
3. Sign up on line to ride in the Jax 4 Joe Ride. Register @ Active.com. Saturday, March 17th
Meet @ Jax Irvine. 7:30am start. Active.com | All the sports you do! search: jax4joe

Sorry for the politics on the pre-edited post. Totally inappropriate. Joe is a good guy and that's all that matters. The wife and I will be riding for him.

What a horrible thing to happen. I hope everything turns out well for Joe.

This leaves me with 1 question....does he get his med insurance from Jax?

I'm really considering this since I get a lot of my work done at the Irvine shop and this guy gave me some great advice and helped me remove some stubborn parts from my ride.

Thanks "Mr. Pho." :-) Yup, that's all the info.

Joe is totally cool. He's just a genuine, nice guy - always trying to help a customer out and always upbeat. He has melanoma - it can be beaten. But Joe needs treatment. This bums me out.

I'm not sure what health insurance he uses. I do know they covered his cancer in the past. However, now they are dropping him.

OH so sorry. I just realized I hijacked your thread! Here's from my other thread that is closed...

ADDED TO THE CALENDAR AND REALIZED THAT THERE'S ALREADY ONE BENEFIT RIDE ON THIS DAY THAT PEOPLE ARE ALREADY PARTICIPATING IN BUT THOUGHT YOU'D LIKE TO KNOW:

There's another benefit ride on the 17th for Joe Schraff, Jax HB Service Manager, who is paying for cancer treatments. I don't personally know him but he's helped me before on a finishing few self bike fix/install projects. He's a really nice guy. I read about this on the JAX's website but it's slightly unclear, INCLUDING THE DATE: http://jaxbicycles.com/index.cfm

So, I called the Irvine shop today and got the details. It's a benefit directly to Joe at any denomination. The ride leaves the Irvine shop on March 17th and goes to their shops in Yorba Linda, Fullerton, Long Beach, Huntington Beach and back to Irvine based on this schedule:
IRV – 7:30 SHARP LEAVE TIME; START
YL- 9:00 ARRIVE
FUL- 10:00 ARRIVE
LB- 12:00 ARRIVE
HB- 1:30 ARRIVE
IRV- 3:00 ARRIVE; END
You can cut out or in at any point along the 75 mile route or do self shuttles, etc. VERY informal and any pace. The shops will have a few snacks along the way but it sound like you'll be supplying your own lunch, etc.

I'll be there myself as long as I can get on the bike and get some miles under my belt after 2 months of no riding.

I thought you all would like to know about this!

My plan is to either drive to Irvine and do the whole thing or get up early enough to ride to Irvine from HB and stop at HB. Anyone doing the whole thing. I am pokey since I haven't ridden in two months so I need to draft you!
