Default AMGEN roadie tour in Long Beach

Was wondering if any of you bubbs are coming down to check out the final leg of the AMGEN tour here in Long Beach in two weeks?

Looks like they are setting up lots of stuff across the street from my work at the Convention Center. They have all kinds of street light banners up, a HUGE banner on Pine St. across from Hooters that takes up the side of a building. It looks like its gonna be a pretty big turnout.

Here is a link:

I think some of the OTB guys are doing the race? Maybe next year you (more serious) roadies in here will get a team together and go wheel to wheel with team discovery.

I'm going to go. Probably parking in Belmont and riding in to avoid the parking issues.

Sounds like fun, maybe we can try to get out there too. Think I may take the fixie (with brakes). Brian, I'll let you know if we plan on it. I'd have to take little one too.

BTW, nice land marks there--Hooters. I love Pine Street, they have great food/restaurants and I haven't been in so long...okay, I'm talking everyone into going.

It definitely sounds like a plan. However, my social planner just informed me that she and the kids will be going, so I will be driving in.

No more Team Discovery after this year they are backing out. The exec's that were the push behind it, have been let go and the new powers that be, don't want any part of it. If you look at what the American Teams along with most other teams, they have finally put such a program together to stop any dope using it would be near impossible for someone to cheat this way now. A little late, but better then never.

Shiat, we've got NASCAR on the same day. But my wife said she'd like to go to Santa Barbara for the day, so I'll get to see that stage at least.
