Default STR BBQ March 3 Oneill Park. Volunteers needed

There was a thread a few weeks ago about having an STR BBQ. So I reserved site 6 at Oneill Park in Trabuco Canyon for Sat. March 3rd. I think this would be a great way to meet some new people, ride, and enjoy a BBQ. I would also like to run a shuttle for the those who need a ride after the CC/VQ Race. For everyone who plans on attending your input / contribution will help make this a cool event. Here's some possible rides:

Luge: Geoladders -- Luge (Cooks Corner)

Arroyo Trabuco: Geoladders -- Arroyo Trabuco - Live Oak

Harding / Joplin: Geoladders -- Harding - Joplin Trail

Oneill / Whiting: Geoladders -- ONeill Park - Whiting Ranch Loop

Volunteers are needed for the following:
1. One shuttle vehicle. ( my truck will be #2)
2. Food for the BBQ.
3. Beverages.
4. Charcoal, fluid, etc, etc.
5. Ideas

A few things note worthy: Alchohol is prohibited in Oneill Park, so keep it on the down low. Only 2 vehicles per site, so we need to figure out the parking. I'll start a thread in the trailhead forum with the finalized plans.

I bought a Sportworks 4-bike hitch rack for a 2" receiver if it will help with the shuttle duties.

Thanks for coordinating this M

I think you scared them off with the "no beer" comment. Water bottles are a very versatile tool

We would love to be there and help w/ the shuttle. We're packing our moving truck that weekend to move up to Morro Bay. We're going to try to make it to the finish line at VQ/CC to cheer everyone on!

maybe your right. In my mind "Alcohol Prohibited" translates to "bring a flask".

Oneill park is in trabuco canyon. BAsically go 5 or 405 south, east on El Toro rd, Right on Live oak canyon rd, Oneills on the right a few miles in. We'll be meeting at the cook's parking lot however. Same directions but cook's corner is El toro and live oak intersection. I'll have more detail in the trailhead thread later this month.

fat tire??? you'll have to join me for some patron or don julio. i prefer patron, can't remember which is your preference.

chat, what??? i'm still a noob when it comes to the tech-stuff. didn't make the maverick demo @bannings last sunday due to the rain. more due to myself, not bannings. that is, they may have still conducted the demo, @ the fully-loop, i just didn't attend. ask steven jackson...

How much pedaling is involved for the shuttle rides? Trying to figure out which bike to bring if I can make it. Choices are a Yeti AS-X and Yeti 575.

My nephews ( not the sharpest tools in the shed ) took a keg up to O'Neil and thought they could get away with it. They all had cups and thought the rangers wouldn't have a problem with it. They didn't, they just called the police who came in took the beer and gave tickets to everyone that was drinking. My nephews both plead guilty to drinking in a public park and were fined 500 bucks each! Almost everyone who fought it got it reduced to 250 (plus something called court costs) and learned that it can be expensive drinikng at O'Neil Park. The county rangers never said a word to them.

I'll have to pass. Helping out with timing for VQ/CC so I am stuck there til the end.

Plan on bringing the 575. Check the links for the elevation profiles. Nothing gnarly enough for the ASX.......unless we do trabuco / bell loop??? That might actually be a good idea.

Keep in mind that the VQ is going on and there will be a lot of riders climbing and descending Trabucco .
