Default Sedona?

Hey Dean, or whoever else knows,

Is the first week in June to late to ride in Sedona? How hot is it by then? My wife has something going on there for a few days and I am wondering if I should go with her and bring my bike. Thanks.

Bring bikes. I ride there all year round. It will be warm, not hot, get your riding done in the AM. That Red Rock heats up fast. Sedona is 4500ft so it cools way down at night and night riding is allowed. Besides Jeff you are only 20 miles away from Flagstaff, Mt. Elden (8899ft) has epic rides from easy single track (Schultz Creek) to full on South Mountain Gnar (Yedi). June is maybe a month before the moonson season so Elden may not have the green meadows and wildflowers that will be there July-Sept. The summer hail storms and lighting in Flagstaff are outstanding.

Besides what are you talking about "heat", when I rode with you it was 105 and never colded down at night. Forget what I said above...just ride all daylong..ya...go down to PHX you will feel at home.

Dean

Jeff it does get warm there, but considering where you live it wouldn't be any hotter. I talked with some locals that live there and they said they were amazed at all the Cali folks who thought it was to hot to ride there in the summer. They did say most their rides in July & August are usually early morning to early afternoon, and then they ride again after 4 pm, but they can get a full day of riding in, in the summer months with no problem.

Default no major issues with heat - bring bike!

i did Sedona last August and was pretty hot but if you get out "early" heat was not an issue. I tried to push off no later than 9am and was able to ride for 3-4 hours with no problems. As always bring lots of water. (mid day was way hot!)

def some great trails there. Dean helped me out quite a bit on trail selection before and during trip (via post) but since everything was new to me I had just as much fun exploring on my own and hitting trails I had no ideas what names where.

If you go have a blast

Default Heat

If I remember right you guys were here during a bad heatwave. It was hot as hell. 105 is pretty uncommon. Just because I was riding in the heat doesn't mean I was enjoying it. LOL. The lake sure was a welcome sight on that day. During the summer here we have to ride at elevation or get started real early. Usually though in early June it hasn't heated up yet. I didn't realize that Sedona was at 4500. That sounds great. Looks like I will be there from the 7th through the 10th. Thanks for the info.
On another note it is not hot here now and the Kern Canyon Trail is in prime condition. 21 miles of XC singletrack, point to point. Let me know if you want to come up and ride.

I will be riding with Scott and Mike a couple of times this weekend. We will see what we can come up with. I am ready for some new dirt.
