i'm going to be purchasing one in a few weeks and wanted to see what you guys currently have or have owned in the past. I know this is opening up a lot of memories of good times, so lets see those bikes! It will be interesting to see how the times have changed in regards to bike setup, parts and the like.
I'm currently trying to decide on which bike to get and whether or not i should get a nice beginner bike or just go for a sweet setup or hell, just go custom. I'm leaning towards a nice beginner bike and seeing how "into" the bmx thing i get. Pretty much all the bikes i'm looking at have 3pc cranks, full cromo frame and forks, 14mm axles. Not sure if i'll want a gyro setup as i think the bikes look cleaner with just a single line... hell i wouldn't mind going brakeless ![]() list of candidates from cheaper to a little more mula DK 6 pack, one of the highly recommended bmx completes for around $300 http://www.westmorelandbikesupply.co...5d1c2127fdfbce Eastern Element $380 ![]()

i dont have any pix, but here is a brief rundown of my former bmx steed:
cycle pro (dont even know what model) was my first bmx bike, i got it when i was around 7, it was all red, red knobbies with yellow pads gt interceptor, chrome (got it for my 12th birthday, i tink the frame is still hanging in my parents garage, i wonder if its worth anything...) free agent limo frame, chrome; transferred most parts from gt interceptor to it (some time in high school)

true, i'd have to look and see, im sure it has some minor rust. have you been to that A-1 bike shop over on Goldenwest & Westminster, across from the Jack N the Box? that guy has some cool stuff! even has old photo albums with the local kids from the 80's.

i won't be racing seriously... i think it would be funny to take it out to the orange track from time to time.. i figure it will be a good way to learn cornering, pumping the bike and what i really need help on, standing up and pedaling like a madman.

Ok... you might want to get one with an aluminum frame of you do plan on racing, but if you really dont see yourself racing more than a few times a year, then stick with a chromoly frame...

tk, as I mentioned, I currently have a GT Pro Series 24. Are you getting a 24 or one of them squirly 20s? Good luck on a 20! I can't ride one of those now. Heck, the 24 is squirly enough!
By the way, I don't think a GT Interceptor of any year is vintage. Those are so new! Although I had many bikes, some of my favorites and my race bikes include: - 1973 Schwinn Sting Ray (I have to include my first!) - Webco - Powerlite (early mild steel version) - CW (limted edition brass plated model later replaced with a chrome one when the brass one broke) - Torker - Mongoose Pro Class - Mongoose Pro Class 24 - Blue Max (same as Mongoose Pro Class) - VDC 16" pit bike (I recently read that there were only 25 made) - Free Agent (I forgot the model) - Free Agent (prototype with 75 degree headangle) - Free Agent 24 (serial number 000013) - GHP (funny when Greg Hill saw the new stickers on my custom orange painted bike before he had even seen them - my buddy worked at the company that made the stickers) - Haro (Billy Griggs special model - I got it from Billy, then traded it back to him for a GT Pro Series 24) My mountain bike list is probably just as long. Let me know when you get your bike, so we can hit the track! |

lee, i'm going 20s... availibility of parts is a lot higher and since i'm not much of a racer, i think it would be a lot more fun to mess around with a bike on dubs
i'm at work and i'm bored ![]() Last edited by tkblazer; 02-09-2007 at 12:15 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
