My nephew, Kris Fox, took #5 World UCI BMX Championship Junor's Men in Sao Paulo last year. Ranked #1 US for his age. The kid hammers on my singlespeed, he does not like gears.
How's this for a track?

You can be creative with making some pads. The general rule is that it has to be 1/4" thick. Whatcha got laying around the house?
BTW, you may not want to slack out that FSR too much. I'm not sure what it is currently, but quicker steering can be more desirable on a BMX track (not too quick, though). I remember one of the Free Agent 20" prototype frames I had back when FA first started. It had a 75 degree headangle. Yeah, the front wheel was like a shopping cart wheel. Even still, I liked it! Even though I was riding that bike, the head angle had nothing to do with the crash where I broke my left wrist (2nd of 4x) and a fractured C5. Nam, How much does that DK weigh? Unfortunately, I could never make it from my job in Torrance to Orange on Wednesdays or Fridays, but I could make it to Bellflower (on my way home, actually). Sunday may be an option for Orange. Man, I get winded just looking at that track! I'm exhausted, now. Last edited by 2wheel_lee; 02-01-2007 at 03:47 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

[quote=Nagaredama;48621]I'll be heading out to Simi or Bellflower BMX on my semi custom KHS FR2000. Running a shorter shock to slacken the head angle, lower the bottom bracket (12"), and lessen the travel.
Anyone know where to buy a monoque pad kit in West LA? they let you race that or just practice I have a fr as well but I think weighs in around 33 pounds a little to heavy but would be cool to practice. |

I had been tossing around the idea of stacking a bunch of air into the fork on my Vagrant and going to Bellflower for an evening practice. Funny, I used to hate it when hacks in the Vet Cruiser class got lumped into 14 or 15 expert. Now I'd be the hack that the kids would be hating
It wouldn't do much in terms of conditioning for your average ride, but is definitely a fun way to spend some time on the bike and work on skills you wouldn't normally get to tinker with out on the trail. Riders up, riders ready, watch the light. Chris |

looks like we're gonna have to post up a ride for a bmx track day...
lee, the bike weighs in at 31 lbs ![]() its pretty cheap at $260, so i figure i'll give it a try and mess around with the bike...i've also been looking at regular 20" bmx bikes as well... i have no clue what i want. i want a bike i can commute on, ride some urban stuff along the way, maybe hit some DJ's with as well. i figure the transition to 24s would be easier then 20s. The bike (KHenter Special) was designed around top to bottom runs at a jump spot in Brentwood. Some of the landings are to flat and there are some nice rocks thrown in too, thus the need for a suspension bike. The spring rate is 900 so it is pretty stiff. Reminds me of sitting on Rich Houseman's Yeti 4x. He and I weigh about the same and his bike felt really stiff. Considering all the parts was random stuff I had sitting around I'm pretty stoked. Once I get a pad kit I'll be hitting Bellflower during the week and Simi on the weekends. Here is a profile shot with a 130mm fork. The current Rock Shox Psylo (20mm axle) is 85mm - 125mm and really light. Stay tuned for a hardtail pretty soon with a Marzocchi 4X up front. ![]() |

After a shoulder surgery I decided to get back into BMX. So I bought a FreeAgent Raceway and re-seperated my shoulder. Luckly the surgery held together and it healed up. The bike has been a liqour store flyer ever since. I'll sell it for 250.00 if anyones interested. I think it's a 2000 or 2001 (black, yellow, red).
